The Anglican Priest that punched a dumpster after BvS and talked to the wee hours of the morning about his hate for Spiderman Homecoming. Came by this morning with is wife. I asked how was their Halloween. This started a discussion.
He stated that the Holiday has been and will always be All Saints Day. My inner History Nerd came out and pointed out that it hasn't ALWAYS been as Samhain, Harvest Festivals, Cerelia predate The Church. And The Church celebrated Martyrs and Saints on different days. It was only after 700 CE that the Church put it in Nov. That the Greek and Eastern Orthodox still hold Martyr and Saints day in May. That most Protestants save for his Catholic-Lite Anglican Church don't care about Saints. I think the Catholic-Lite comment and me using Common Era instead of anno Domini turned discussion to argument.
He finally hit me with something to the tune of secularist always turn facts and truths to what they want. They will do anything not to acknowledge the truth. That's when I saw red and might have said Religious Zealots do the same. Like how you told your wife you were a virgin when you were married. I'm pretty sure I caught you fucking Evie on the handbell table in the chapel at College. He took a swing at me and I tossed his ass out of my house. Now his marriage might take hit that he lied about his virginity. I don't know if it will take the damage of I believe he was engaged at his wife at the time. The time period would be tight and I don't know if he will have the wherewithal to lie again and say it was before they were engaged. I'm pretty sure Evie was only at our school for 1 semester. He dated her for 2 weeks before he started dating his wife. I'm pretty sure I caught them while he was dating his wife or engaged with her. (they got engaged that semester after about a month of dating)

Ouch, that's unfortunate to hear. Also...that kind of escalated quickly if that's what happened?

If his marriage can't survive the simple fact that they had sex before it then that marriage is weak as shit.

If you are talking about his engagement yeah it happened quickly. It was always the joke that he was the second shortest dating to engagement I knew. My Mom and Dad dated for 8 days and then got engaged on the 8th day and Married that day.

If his marriage can't survive the simple fact that they had sex before it then that marriage is weak as shit. Might've worded that wrong in my haste. He told his now wife that he was a virgin when they were married. That wasn't true. He had sex with a girl in college. I think his marriage can survive the fact he had sex and even lied about it. The problem I foresee is the timing pretty sure he cheated on his then fiance (now wife) with the girl he had sex with. If he wants to keep his marriage his ass better lie about the timing. (if I'm right and he was either dating or was engaged to his wife when he had the sex)

No offense, but that all came out of a debate about Halloween?

No offense, but that all came out of a debate about Halloween? I haven't over-analyzed why I let my temper get the best of me and blurt out the factoid about the handbell table. I suppose if I had to guess it would be his over the top holier than thou tone he used. Also the fact he was calling me basically a liar in my own home. I don't know I feel guilty as fuck for blurting it out, though.

No offense, but that all came out of a debate about Halloween? That sort of thing can escalate quickly. My super-Christian aunt does NOT like being reminded that both Easter and Christmas are based on ancient holidays that pre-date Jesus.

I tend not to bring up anything religious/political at the holiday dinner table. But tell your aunt she should read C.S. Lewis.

Also, this has nothing to do with the OP (sorry, Vassaggo ), but just so that you crazy kids know, my laptop crashed randomly yesterday and is now in the, er, loving caress of the Apple people (I'm writing from a library computer). Just in case I take even longer to respond than usual.

I graduated in 2000, if she didn't contract Leprosy, became a Burn Victim with 80% scar coverage , or became a 66lbs 5'9" anorexic / bulimic then hands down Evie.

Just in case I take even longer to respond than usual. And it appears it’s repairable but all the documents unsalvageable. Anyone here know how to salvage the unsalvageable? I am assuming a few things here. I am assuming that you have a desktop computer you can use,I am assuming your Laptop and desktop have the same general OS (windows to windows Mac to Mac) I am assuming your Desktop has Sata Ports on the mother board at all or they have them and one is not being used. If your desktop doesn't have an extra sata port then you could unplug essential piece of hardware. You could also buy a usb desktop external harddrive conversion module . It's a little cradle that converts the data to go through a usb port. One Make sure your laptop and desktop is powered down. Two open the desktop computer and see if it has Sata Ports . If it doesn't you'll need to switch to another desktop computer that has an open sata port (you could use hard drive to usb external converter ) Three look up how to get to the Laptop's hard drive Step by Step instructions for your model. Four remove the laptop's hard drive Five connect power to hard drive from the power supply of the desktop . Six Connect Sata cable from hard drive to motherboard.of the desktop computer. Seven: Boot your desktop computer. Eight: Run Scan Disk. Nine: Copy all your documents and such and paste them onto the laptop's hard drive. Ten: Remove the Desktop's Hard drive. see if it is repairable run diagnostics. Once repaired put it back into the Desktop's computer. Then hook up the laptop's hard drive and copy and paste the files back to the Desktop Computer. Eleven: this situation should spur you to start making backup disks of the important suff or cloud based storage as a file backup.

Thanks so much, Vassaggo! I don’t have a desktop Mac, but if push comes to shove a family member has one. I’m going away (again) this weekend for a family get-together in Vermont, but I’ll try to work on this after that. And, yes, this has inspired me to start backing my files up. Also, my apologies for derailing your thread.

Also, my apologies for derailing your thread. I don't know why I started in on your desktop computer's hdd instead of the Lap top so Editing this: Eight: you should do scan disk before you back up as it does do restores if it finds a bad sector. Instead running Scandisk. What you should do is create a desktop restore point here. It should give you a little more piece of mind before tackling the problem. Nine: Copy all your documents and things you want to save that was on the Laptop and transfer them to the Desktop HDD. (as a backup) That way if you run into a problem you have the saved things you want/need. Ten: Once you got Laptop files saved on Desktop HDD, run the system tools on the Laptop HDD. It may get to the point where you have to wipe the Laptop's HDD and start over to get rid of the problem. That's why I wanted you to back up your information. If the Laptop HDD isn't physical problem but some type of software problem then you might just want to format and reinstall OS, Games, Programs, etc If it's Hardware you are going to have to get a new HDD. If that's the case then it's close to the other software problem resolution. Only difference is the New HDD comes blank and you have to install OS, Games and Programs. The software solution is wipe first back to what it was like new then install OS, Games and Programs.

It's part of fun discussion when the topic is allowed to ebb and flow. Still no word from the Priest. I don't think he has gone to our mutual friends and told them the complete truth, but has told them something. I got a few texts from them asking me what happened. I am going to allow him the responsibility to tell them the full story if he wants. I'm not going to tell anybody else about the why of the argument just that we had one.
