The 2018 film, if seen as the only sequel to the 1978 film, wraps its story up in a neat, bloody bow. Laurie Strode, in full Sarah Connor mode, traps Mike Myers in the basement and the house goes up in flames. However, there is a shot when we see the basement on fire and Myers isn't there. If this is meant to set up Myers somehow escaped, I hope it was through an inter-dimensional rift which lands him somewhere else in time. Maybe during the roaring 20s. That seems unlikely, though.

Maybe a crossover with the Poltergeist reboot? He comes out of the television when they're watching the original film.

Michael was wearing a secret cloak to protect himself from the flames.

For me the 1978 remains standalone. 2018 was admirable alt-fiction, Halloween though remains Michael at large after that one night never to be heard from ever again.

I'd like to see a Michael Myers vs Jason Vorhees movie.

Well, this new one ignored the sequels, yet still ended up being about Michael chasing Laurie and her family members. Now that Michael is back to not just targeting relatives, let's actually see what that looks like.

Maybe after the 3 Strodes escaped they moved out of Haddonfield, and Michael comes back to target another group of people in Haddonfield at random. There’s also a new lead.

As long as it's not an internet reality show. I wouldn't even mind Laurie sticking around as the new Loomis, but we don't need her family.
