I've gained respect for the Phightens with the Bryce Harper move being a done deal. The rebuild has taken way too long and some of these so called elite prospects (I'm looking at you J.P. Crawford) just haven't panned out. To me it's showing the fanbase you care and want to win again. $400 mil contract for one of 'Your' players. Are you in or out? I'm in baby!

Check back how you feel in year 7 of these 10 year deals. My issue is with the time, not the dollars.

In the sports I follow the record deal offered is $10 million over 9 years, so it's never going to be an issue in any league I care about.

Aussie Football? do they make it past 3 years? looks like a rough sport what's tougher? Rugby or Aussie Football?

In order of the big 3 football codes Rugby Union is the toughest. Constant ruck and mauls and played by absolute yetis. Rugby League is next. Plenty of hard hits, but played by athletes so more refined skills wise than union. AFL is an endurance test. Elite mid fielders cover 12 miles in a game.
Average career length in AFL is 3.5 years. Little lower in League and Union at about 3. You do get freaks like Brent Harvey who played 438 games over 21 seasons (and was still an elite player when he retired), but they are a rarity.
