Agree. Can't understand what possessed captain Chappell to ask his brother to do that. I mean if you see the footage the keeper Rod Marsh was shaking his head in disbelief. One of them should have talked the captain out of that silly plan. I can only imagine what he and his brother might have felt for next few days....

granted i love my sixers and embiid - and this was an offensive foul that never got called... last night Embiid takes a forearm, gets dunked on and posterized! the only part that sucks about this video is Doris Burke on commentary!

You could actually see Rod Marsh saying "No Mate." Master class in undetstatement from Bill Lawry "This might be a little disappointing..."
It varies from country to country. Look at "running up the score." In the US that's disrespectful. In Australia teams who go 60 ahead and "only" win by about that are criticised for "taking their foot off the throat."
And running out the clock at the end of games. Common place in the US to the point where 1st down, two minute warning, no time outs left is accepted as game over. If a coach found a legal way to run the last two minutes off the clock in Australia by doing nothing there'd be rule changes the following day.
Also there's stuff like in AFL when they run down a player from behind, win a free kick and then literally rubbing the guy's nose into the ground is commonplace here. Not so sure that would go over well in other countries. Whereas if were to celebrate every time you made a tackle or had a good run in Australia you'd be seen as a complete dickhead.
Which brings us back to underarm. I don't think any American could understand why doing something within the rules (by an oversight) which guaranteed a favourable result was considered such an apalling act. But we know it was. Fascinating really.

What do you think about mankading, Tafe? Is it disrespectful / unethical?

I've never had a problem with it on the proviso a warning's given. Particularly now when running between the wickets is such a big part of the game. I don't think it's too much to ask for a batsman to stay in his crease until the ball's bowled. I actually think it should be called "one short" if they aren't.

I have the same opinion on the issue. Never got the extent of controversy it generates. Batsmen already take so much advantage by leaving their crease so frequently before even the ball is bowled.

I once started a topic "Your favourite bowling action" as in bowling style of a fast bowler but American posters had a bit of fun putting youtube videos of "bowling". I don't mind playful banters at all!

Holding and Lillee would be my two favourite actions. Holding is just pure win with everything he does. Best Action. Coolest Voice. Best Nickname. Best Athlete. Most Impressive Caught and Bowled in turns of metres sprinted. The guy was a freak.

My father's fav is also Holding. I think Courtney Walsh may have modeled himself on Holding.

Dicky Bird called him "Whispering Death". I wonder if it was because Holding made very little noise in his run-up.

Yeah I was yelling at the TV during this play. It was an obvious offensive foul.

All cricket bowling used to be underarm... Overarm bowling was devised so that ladies could bowl in big skirts without the bowling arm catching on their skirts.

Yeah, but Trevor Chappell didn't throw it, he rolled it along the ground like he was playing bowls. Only sure way of avoiding the batsman hitting a six.
