Did you like that one? Anyway, they're saying that either it's merely adequate or very good.
TEXT:
Warner Bros. recently held a screening of Aquaman on the west coast. While there's not a large wave (pun very much intended) of viewers' reactions from the screening, the ones that do exist are largely and overwhelmingly positive. One Reddit user going by the name MaxBorne calls it the best DCEU movie, writing:
The user elaborates that Aquaman is better than Wonder Woman with Atlantis being a much more fleshed out world than Themyscira. In his estimation, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta and Patrick Wilson as Orm are some of the best comic book villains ever and are far better than Wonder Woman's Ares. Orm reportedly gets much more screen time than Black Manta, but Aquaman does portray Manta as a very sympathetic character.
Reddit wasn't the only social media platform to be hit with unofficial Aquaman reviews either. Twitters users Mick Minas, Carl Abellana and KC Walsh also shared their reactions, calling it everything from Star Wars underwater to their personal top DC movie. The only slightly negative review comes from Twitter user baji who still calls Aquaman a solid film. It's just not the complete home run that other fans are describing.
Overall, though, the fan reactions are very good news for the DCEU and Aquaman. The most recent predictions for Aquaman's box office numbers weren't incredibly positive, but good word of mouth could turn that around. Even if Aquaman's box office isn't incredible, DC and Warner Bros. need a character and movie that is widely liked and positively reviewed that's not Wonder Woman. A cinematic universe can't survive with just one popular figure. Though Zack Snyder's Superman movies and Justice League have dedicated fans, the overall perception of them is that they are sloppily made and/or mediocre films. It's almost better for Aquaman to be a critical hit than a commercial one in order to improve DC's brand. After all, Suicide Squad was a great financial success for Warner Bros., but the sequel is still rumored to go in a completely different direction with new writer James Gunn - likely due to Suicide Squad's terrible reviews.
On the other hand, it's important to keep in mind that early reactions aren't always indicative of how the final movie will be received. Justice League had positive reactions coming out of its test screenings, but when it was released, it received a rotten score on Rotten Tomatoes and greatly underperformed at the box office. A similar reaction occurred with The Last Jedi, albeit from an opposite perspective. Critics responded very strongly to the film, but a certain segment of fans have been railing against the movie for months after its release. Still, there are more reasons to be hopeful about Aquaman than concerned.

Looks like James Wan has delivered a great movie. I wasn't super excited about Aquaman when it was first announced, but from these reactions, it sounds like Aquaman is going to be a great movie.

At the very least, that all sounds slightly more reassuring than the early responses for JL, which called attention to how bland the villain was, despite not being negative overall.

I'm always wary of these things but still it's better than them saying the opposite at least.

Yeah, even BVS has great reactions.. I liked it, but most people didn't. I can't be bothered to watch a movie lead by Momoa, sorry. And the trailers did absolutely nothing for me

So far so good. I trust early reactions about as far as I can fly, but always good to have a positive feel going into a movie. I was expecting Black Manta to have a smaller role than Orm, but hopefully he gets a decent amount of screen time. He's my favorite second tier DC villain. I don't mean second tier as an insult or anything I just think he a B level character. (I get into debates with friends because they don't believe that he's that high, but to each their own.)

Does it look to you like the whole world goes nuts over the next DCEU release?

Snyder wasn't a complete fuck up. He chose the right Aquaman. Just like he chose the right Wonder Woman. Momoa was the perfect choice to take us as far from the Super Friends Aquaman as possible. I don't think we'd have a solo Aquaman movie if it was anyone else. For as much as I can't stand the man, he did get some things right. He got the right look for everyone. That just emphasizes his eye for the visually aesthetic. The talent of the actors chosen, I am not so sure about.

Aquaman might be a great movie best comic movie of the year.antman and IW were letdowns Oh yes, Infinity War was SUCH A LETDOWN - if you consider major critical approval, billions of dollars in profit, and winner of Best Action Movie at the People's Choice Awards to be disappointing. What were you expecting from Ant-Man for it to be a "letdown"? You hated the first one and didn't want to see the sequel.

Keep in mind his definition of "cool" is very late 90's/early 00's - a period in which Venom fits more at home in than of the comic book movies of today.

IW was just like 90 percent movies campy with jokes.

IW was just like 90 percent movies campy with jokes. You described the movie as being a letdown, thus implying that you went in with expectations but you hated the first movie so what exactly were you thinking going into the sequel? You even said I yourself the trailers didn't interest you at all. Infinity War was a lot more than jokes, but then again your definition of a good and bad movie is pretty questionable and shallow so its not like you're be the best judge of quality really.
