DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER (1971) 3/5.
The seventh entry in the JAMES BOND film series produced by Eon Productions. It also sees Sean Connery return to the lead role after George Lazenby retired from the film series at the end of ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE. The screenplay is by Richard Maibaum and Tom Mankiewicz and is based loosely upon DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER, the fourth novel in Ian Fleming’s JAMES BOND book series. The music is by John Barry, the film is produced by Albert R Broccoli and Harry Saltzman and it’s directed by Guy Hamilton.
The film stars Sean Connery as James Bond, Jill St John as Tiffany Case, Norman Burton as Felix Leiter, Lana Wood as Plenty O'Toole, Joseph Furst as Professor Doctor Metz, Bernard Lee as M, Desmond Llewelyn as Q, Lois Maxwell as Miss Moneypenny and Charles Gray as Ernst Stavro Blofeld. It also features Jimmy Dean, Laurence Naismith, Leonard Barr, David Bauer, Bruce Cabot and Bruce Glover and Putter Smith as Mister Wint and Mister Kidd.
The plot, which has very little in common with the source material, has James Bond impersonating a diamond smuggler to infiltrate a smuggling ring and soon uncovering a plot by his old enemy Ernst Stavro Blofeld to use the diamonds to build a space-based laser weapon. 007 has to battle his nemesis for one last time, to stop the smuggling and stall his enemy’s plan of destroying Washington, DC and the world in general. A very uninspiring entry into the JAMES BOND film series.

5/10 - My second least favorite Bond film. A few things to enjoy but a really weak film. Diamonds and Quantum of Solace are the only two I dont care for.

When I saw all the Bond films for the first time (9 or 10 years ago) I thought Moonraker would be my least favorite but as silly as it i I think its great fun. I was pleasantly surprised.

The older I get, the more loyalty I find myself having for the original source material. Needless to say, that MOONRAKER - like many other 007 films - share only one thing in common with their original book counterpart...
The title.
And sometimes not even that.

I like the movie although I can see why people don't like it.

I like the movie although I can see why people don't like it. If they had stuck closer to the original source material, it would've been so much better.
Especially the part where the gangster chases James Bond and Tiffany Case with his own private steam locomotive.
