So happy ours is in October!
But I made turkey, stove top stuffing, scalloped potatoes, carrot cake, rice, salad. Sister brought sweet potatoes and root vegetables, mother brought tiropites. Also fruit and booze.

I'm just making a big pot of beef stew. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving but WKD celebrates "Football Day." I'm also picking up a "new York style" cheesecake from Publix, they make a really good cheesecake without that icky graham cracker crust. Since we both like "stuffing", I bought some Bob Evan's herb stuffing (its only available for a few weeks a year) and also a bag of Pepperidge farm stuffing, we'll be having that with chicken over the next 2 weeks.

Going semi-traditional this year. I'll be roasting a 5 lb turkey breast along with roasted potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts. Homemade mashed taters, jellied cranberry sauce, toasted Jewish rye and sweet potato pie will complete the feast.  |

We're going the lazy way. A local restaurant does a traditional Thanksgiving meal for carry-out the day before. We'll just have to heat it back up. Turkey (light and dark) mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, homemade cranberry sauce, vegetable of choice and a mini-wheat loaf.

I received my "assignment," about an hour ago. I've been asked to bring a yam dish ... preferably, without marshmallows. I was so happy to hear that, because I think that Mother Nature did a splendid job on the yam. It's doesn't need added confection.
Now, I have to decide what to do. The hostess said that the menu will include mashed potatoes, so I don't want to do a "mash." I'll probably keep it simple, with some mix of herb/spice, and perhaps added butter. Any suggestions??

How about cutting them up into bite-sized chunks and roasting them in a 400 degree oven after coating them in olive oil, salt & pepper and garlic powder?

That wouldn't take too much effort at re-heating, before the meal. I like that, too.
