Any fans of "Child's Play"? How has it held up after 30 years?
Not a great film, but it is entertaining and still the best of the Child's Play/Chucky films. The animatronic work, although not perfect, is still quite good. Brad Dourif is great with his vocal work as Chucky.

46th anniversary. Some major talent doesn't quite deliver but I kinda liked it.

Ha I haven't seen that older version.
"Chucky said she was a real bitch and had it coming. I didn't say it, Chucky did."
The scene where she is going to burn the doll and he finally starts talking to her is pretty creepy.
"Andy, no. We're friends to the end, remember?"
"This is the end, friend."

Never seen a Chucky movie. Whenever I hear the title I think OF Sidney Lumet's psychological thriller.

Great movie, really tense and creepy; I have the first three films on dvd. Have you seen Bride of Chucky? Seed of Chucky? Cult of Chucky? I have. I think the series got too hip and cute. Nothing terrible, but I find the early pictures have greater rewatch value as straight-ahead 'Chucky' movies. How about you, do you like those movies?
5-time world wrestling champion Alexa Bliss became Chucky, having previously become a whole host of good & evil characters. I think she's the wrestling world's ultimate cosplay superstar!

They're entertaining films as long as you don't take them seriously. I've only seen the first three. I didn't bother with the rest because the series became more about camp and laughs than scares and thrills as it went on.
Speaking of Chucky and wrestling:

It’s a favourite of mine. Love the cold and dark atmosphere it had going for it where most of the sequels don’t really have that. Brad Dourif is excellent in his first outing as the famous doll, and the rest of the cast is also quite solid.

Speaking of Chucky and wrestling: That's so cool. The Steiner Brothers were from Bay City, Michigan. Alexa Bliss is from Columbus, Ohio, and she was a cheerleader at the University of Akron, her cheer work has been praised by the Akron Beacon Journal. Charles Lee Ray ('Chucky') was gunned down in Chicago, Illinois.

One of a number of fantastic horror movies released that year and a genuinely unnerving classic that straddles the line between 80s slasher and psychological horror.

I LOVE the 'Child's Play' movies and re-watch them multiple times nearly every year and I personally think 'Child's Play 2' is the best and am really happy they have got both Andy and Kyle back for the upcoming TV show but the original movie is a classic and my second favourite movie in the franchise.

Alexa is awesome. She is the reason my hair is blonde and blue (well, most of the time except for when it is blonde and pink) and I am one of the few who liked her when she first debuted on NXT and had the fairy gimmick. They should really turn her back face 'cause she has been a heel for ages now and it would be something new for her on the main roster.

They were showing it at a theater by me in October 30th but wanted $20 a ticket. I passed. It's not even my favorite Child's Play film, which are 2 and Bride respectively.

Why are those two your favorites? Just curious. 1 wastes a lot of time with "is Andy the killer or Chucky?" when we know from the very first scene it's Chucky. 2 gets straight to the point, has a better atmosphere, and the climax in the toy factory is awesome. I also liked the foster sister more as a female lead than the mom. Then Bride is just a lot of fun, and Chucky and Tiffany play off each other well. The comedy overstayed its welcome by Seed, though.

Leonard Maltin Movie Guide review:
Child's Play (1988) 3/4 stars
Scary and clever horror thriller in which only young Vincent knows his new Chucky doll is really a monster, possessed with the spirit of dead murderer Dourif. His mom (Hicks) and the cop on the case (Sarandon) finally believe him but not before two deaths. Sleeper hit packs a wallop, with excellent special effects bringing the doll to life.

I saw her 'NXT' debut too. Renee Young was taken aback on commentary. Corey Graves later said that he thought she'd never make it in the industry because she was small and friendly when she arrived, but she proved her doubters wrong through a combination of strong work ethic learnt from her cheerleading & bodybuilding days, a high level of in-ring respect (both earned and given to her competitors), an ability to conduct herself well backstage and of course, pure, raw wrestling talent. I think everybody can take tips on how to look from the Goddess of WWE, no doubt inspiring her destructive pals, the Riot Squad's changing hairdos!

I still think Child's Play is a very fine horror movie, and the Chucky effects were quite impressive. Brad Dourif was definitely the right choice for the vocal acting.
