Thank you for this memorial. My Dad served as a Major in the US ARMY during WW II in England and France. He had a Hx of Rheumatic Fever with heart disease and was listed as 4F. Somehow he managed to volunteer.
He was a Dentist and interestingly enough his dental assistants were German POWs. My dad spoke German, Italian and French. The Officers stood with British families who were paid to house them. Yes, kippers and mash for breaky.
He spoke very little about the war.

Yes, lets forget. Is this the way for humans to behave and carry on with each other?

Yes, lets forget. Is this the way for humans to behave and carry on with each other? Sadly yes, Toasted. And it is precisely because of the Supreme Sacrifices of these brave men & women that we enjoy any kind freedom & peace today. I guess you are not grateful to these men & women (& even animals too).

Well said, Clusium. TC doesn't seem to grasp that one need not be pro-war in order to honor those who gave their lives.

It's sad when you think about all the people who died to give us the lives we have today. Even the young Germans of low rank who died in that war because they were ordered to fight in a cause they may not have believed in.

Certainly seems that way.

Not to mention Yes, as well as the Russians (who bore the brunt of Nazi aggression in terms of lives lost) and all people who lost their lives.
