I have learned that people will post opinions on subjects upon which they have absolutely no knowledge and will VOCIFEROUSLY and REPEATEDLY defend those opinions even in the face of irrefutable evidence that they are so far out in left field that they cannot even see the bleachers.

My parents haven't been doing so well health wise lately, and not too long ago I woke up to a beloved cats death. Literally. These things tell me life's too short. Enjoy what you can while you can!

I have learned that there will always be someone who comes into a thread with a death announcement or a birthday celebration who cannot resist saying or doing something disrespectful to the "guest of honor". Right now there are several fights breaking out in the numerous Stan Lee threads on assorted boards.

sometimes the announcers go so far as saying "so and so died today. I never liked them, but r.i.p. anyway." "so and so died. Their brother was more famous than they were. R.I.P. " strikes me as incredibly bizarre even for residents of our town of Anonymous-ville

I have learned what a lagomorph is. I too have learned what a lagomorph is. Now I have to learn what a pika is. I already knew what a pica was. I have seen a million of them at work.

Len, I'm so sorry about your beloved cat's death. My beloved cats are my family, and the pain of loss is real. I try to find comfort in the fact that, while they were with me, they never heard a harsh word or saw an unkind action. All of mine have been rescued. With me, they had food, water, warmth, love and veterinary care. It doesn't make the loss any less, but I know I did my best for them. My condolences...

I was a proofreader, graphic artist, calligrapher and illustrator. Nowadays I am retired and just quietly finding fault with typos everywhere!

rachelcarson1953You should see my notes before I proofread them … and then have to EDIT anyway. It's a typing problem, not a spelling one. Sorry about that overload thingy … take some deep breaths

I'll start; I've learned that almost everyone's life experience is different, and that has influenced their view of the world. I have also learned a lot about subjects that I otherwise would not have been able to discuss. And I have learned how to NOT feed the trolls. Anyone else? I've been posting on message boards since 2004. I've pretty much seen it all.

If there's a heaven they'll be there waiting for us.

I have learned, not only on this forum, that there is no road so low that someone will not take it to make a "joke" or a "point" or just to be a total POS, just because they can.
ON THE OTHER HAND
I have learned that even in the midst of the nastiest of the nasties, there are islands of civility, kindness and true humor. The trick is to have the patience to navigate through the swamp and find and then treasure the gems to be discovered on those islands.
