An American Werewolf in London Agreed.
Evil Dead 2. Return of the Living Dead (1985)
I've seen some mentions for Shaun of the Dead, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and just call that one a comedy.

The Exorcist (1973).
I saw it at the cavernous Fox Theater in Detroit with a raucous nearly all-black audience that didn't take a minute of it seriously. They might just as well have been watching Blazing Saddles for all they cared. The kung fu second feature was treated with more respect.

Tusk (2014)
It is equally as hilarious as it is terrifying.

Liking every mention thus far. Particularly "Tusk," "Tremors," and "Basket Case."
Haven't seen "Slither" mentioned. It was awesome. Michael Rooker knocking it out of the park as usual.
I'd add "Bad Milo" to the list. I caught it on Netflix a year or two ago. Essentially it is about a guy with an anger problem that manifests as a goblin that crawls out of his ass while he's asleep and attacks whoever pissed him off. It's brilliant, tastefully gory, and hilarious. I don't know if it got a theatrical release, but I wouldn't have regretted buying a ticket.

Return of the Living Dead. Pretty much the only zombie film I really like.

Transylvania 6-5000. It fits the bill, but I don't know if I call it wither scary or hilarious. Geena Davis looked good in it. Odette

That’s strictly comedy, though. He meant horror films that have the perfect balance of horror and comedy.
