Gentlemen, a reminder - this thread is dedicated to one, Stan Lee, a towering figure in the world of science fiction and comic book literature. Don’t let it turn into discussion about a person who has nothing of substance to contribute here or probably anywhere else.

Anyway, I'm going to miss Stan Lee. I think one of my favorite cameos done by him before the MCU was being the old dude Young Matt Murdock saved from walking into traffic. I loved watching him look back and forth between the obviously blind kid and the car that almost creamed him.

Rest in Peace and Excelsior to a creative visionary and legend.

He was comic's Walt Disney.
He was one of my heroes for 32 years and can't believe he is gone, RIP.

Sadly, as so many could have predicted, a thread about the passing of one of the most important people in popular culture history turns into a thread about the actions of someone whose only mark he'll leave in the world will be in his underwear.

This thread is strictly for mourning Lee's passing, not for another childish fight thread. DC-Fan please reframe from doing this again. This is a warning to you. You now have a strike against you. @weirdraptor While DCfan Comments wereout of line, your remark was a little too much.

Yeah enough is enough DC-Fan , don't pass it off as just asking a question, we all know what you were doing. You didn't even offer any condolences towards the man, you've just (successfully) egged people on to turn what was initially a respectful thread into this shit show now. I soon rushed to help when people were disrespecting your brother so you should know better than this. Don't make any more comments like it or you will have to be banned, not permanently but you can't keep doing this all the time. Anyway I'm going to delete all of his comments and all of other people's comments related to it except for the past few above so they can at least be read first. That way there's no comment to spring board off of to start it back up and it can all go back to being respectful again. Edit: Done, sad that this accounted for probably more than half of the posts in the thread but now it is all back on track.

You now have a strike against you. @weirdraptor While DCfan Comments wereout of line, your remark was a little too much. DC-Fan didn’t say anything remotely deserving of a warning. I never heard of any rules regarding reverence for the recently deceased. If this was on other boards, such a warning would be considered bizarre to say the least. In any respect, his comments were mild. It’s the reactions to them which disrespected the memory of SL even more. He made a couple of mild comments. If no one drew attention to them they would be ignored by most. Regardless his comments upsetted a bunch of users and brought it to our attention. Something had to be done. Some asked for his banning, we decided to issue a warning. What happens on other boards is up to the mods to decide. Just like here it's up to me and scabs to decide. At any rate as I stated before this thread is about mourning him. Not to start another fight, which unfortunately happened. So we had to step in and clean it up.

I am expecting a tearful fair well from Kevin Smith for Stan. I believe the next Hollywood Babble On is recorded this Friday and goes up Monday. They have a section of the show where they pay homage to people who have passed in the previous week.
The video is from an Babble On show last year. In it Kevin pays tribute to Joan Lee after her passing. It sounds like individually they were remarkable people. Together they were divine.

Below is a link to Stan's obituary in the The New York Times for anyone who is interested. It has video from the last time he sat down with the publication in 2015. The comments section is particularly inspiring with shared remembrances from Yukon, Belfast, Czech Republic, Australia, and farther destinations. Stan Lee Is Dead at 95; Superhero of Marvel ComicsThe outpouring over his death is nothing short of a flood. Not too bad for a guy who changed his name because he was too ashamed to admit he wrote comic books for a living. On another, more infinitely banal note, scabab or Hauntedknight87 you may want to re-review this thread for non-relevant posts.

Been watching loads of clips of his interviews that have been circulating on social media since his passing. He was always so enthusiastic and upbeat.

Alright that's enough.
There's no reason for any of this to escalate, especially when a man just recently passed.
If you can't be respectful then you should just not post in this thread.
If you got beef with another user, there's a private message you can use.
Enough of the bickering and fighting. This goes for all of you.

Unbelievable. Can't have a thread dedicated to mourning someone without it turning it into a fight thread.
Locking it up until further notice.

Alright we will try this one more time. Again I've purged all the drivel which is almost embarrassing to have to read.
I don't want to see anymore comments about DC-Fan, anymore comments about Weird Raptor or anymore comments about Tristan. I don't want to see anyone say anything even slightly negative about any other user on this board.
The warning now applies to everyone, if this thread has to get locked again, if it does go to shit yet again, I promise you that someone is getting banned over it and it'll be the one who kicked it off again. If you have nothing to say about Stan Lee or his passing, then you say nothing.

I'm sad that he's gone but at the same time the man got to reach the age of 95. That's a damn good run. Most people would be happy to get to the age of 80.
