Maybe they do it like my mom does. She goes shopping the day after the holidays when she gets stuff for up to 75% off and she saves it for the following year. Earlier seasons show their poor spending habits, like blowing their money on perfume and a bell when they had an opportunity to get ahead on bills. The extravagant Halloween and Christmas supplies couldn't possibly be held over from the previous. Roof ornaments, front yard decorations, the costumes, the make-up, the party favors. That's a LOT of stuff. Where do they keep it? And it doesn't seem like anything they use one year is reused again the next year. The way they take pride in their festiveness, it really looks like they go all out during the holidays and buy everything that year. And as I mentioned, Darlene confirms that her parents spend their money irresponsibly, which royally pisses them off in that episode. They did have a huge house. It had a basement, garage, and an attic if I'm not mistaken. There's plenty of room to keep that stuff. Plus, I'm not saying they keep stuff to reuse next year. I'm saying they buy new stuff when it's 75% off for the following year. It's always new; just purchased 11 months before the holidays. But I can concede Darlene may have had a point. I haven't seen that episode in years.

Their Halloween episodes were the best. I hated the ending, it was crazy. I thought it was awful. The show went downhill after the lotto win. We also own the whole series but my teen daughters have been watching the show together so I haven't had a chance to rewatch it. I can't wait. They are on the very last disc and I'm eager to hear what they think of the last episode.

I want to do a rewatch soon too. I always prefer skipping the first 3 seasons because it was a totally different show. More realistic and gritty, but too much focus on family and kids. Season 4 and up was still good, but it was more adult and digestible.

I really liked the show, but I don't want to see it continue. It just wouldn't be the same and I know it would not be better. The ending of the show sort of bummed me out, if I am remembering it correctly. In the end it turned out that those episodes where the Connors won the lottery and Dan recovered from his heart attack were just a dream. No lottery winning and Dan was dead. So, if the show continued and it was not a remake or some kind of reboot, there would be no Dan. John Goodman was probably the best thing about the show.

I'm fairly sure that if the show were to come back, they would continue the story with the characters and storyline that Roseanne Connor had written about. Meaning, they would have still won the lottery and Dan would still be alive. Although, they could explain that they spent most of the lottery winnings over the the last 20 years and they are back to being middle class again. Before the lottery win, Dan had a great job with the city and Roseanne's restaurant was successful and she was also a commentator on TV. So they were definitely not poor.

I loved the first seasons
'oh, honey, you just fixed dinner three years ago!!!'
and then they not only became white trash, but PROUD WHITE TRASH. and the audience ate it up. right up there with they Dyno-Myting of Good Times.
and then they took the easy way out with their money and win the lottery. like, what? how is that realistic? do many poor people who spend all their money on lottery tickets instead of food or school make out that well?
and I had had never, EVER believed Darlene was NOT gay.

On the show, the Conners would buy stuff they didn't need all the time. Just look at their Halloween and Christmas antics for starters. Darlene confirms this in a Season 8 episode where she was offered a high paying job. Maybe they do it like my mom does. She goes shopping the day after the holidays when she gets stuff for up to 75% off and she saves it for the following year. or maybe, that was the reason why they were always piss broke? same crap with Good Times... they would get news that they were IN LINE FOR A GOOD JOB and they would throw a congratulatory party complete with CAVIAR AND RIBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and then -- poof! the job prospect would just go away. and then they were worse off moneywise than before.

This will be interesting to see how they do it. I was a big fan but it did jump the shark after the lottery season. I don't know, most funny kids in sitcoms when they are younger aren't funny when they are older.
