Milktooth in Indianapolis is a winner.

There are two on the list that are in SF. I'd never heard of either. And, having viewed their websites, I can pretty much guarantee that I'll never know more about them than their names. Both appeared, to me, to be just too haughty and snooty. They may be spectacular, as they should be at their prices.
Nuts mentioned Milktooth, and I looked at their website. It looks like fun.
I think that lists, like this, should be about places that are certainly special ... but, that have an across-the-board appeal.
It was fun to see Koi Palace, in Daly City, on the list. I've heard of it, but never eaten there. It's a limited local chain. I may try it.

Been in Austin 17 years and have yet to go to Franklin's. Lots of great bbq here. Even our Whole Foods has great BBQ at $12 a pound. I use the tongs to pull the meat off the beef ribs bones so I'm not paying for that. If it doesn't pull off, it's not fall-off-the-bone done, so I leave it be.

I don't even eat meat, but that was one of my cheat days (I have about 10-12 per year) and holy hell was it worth it. BBQ with an Asian flare to it. Scrumptious!

Ah, a much more realistic, people friendly list! The first 3 are in my neighborhood. I've often been to Fiorella and The Hong Kong Lounge, but I'm not familiar with Cassava ... will try. Many of them are long time, popular favorites. Zuni Cafe, Swan Oyster Depot, Foreign Cinema and La Taqueria are high on that list. But, I have many to try. Thanks.

Whenever I visit a new city, the Essential 38 for that city is my first stop in terms of looking up where I want to eat and enjoy some spirits. It's a great starting point.

I wasn't aware of Essential 38. It's a great resource ... thanks for sharing. I notice that they have London listed. I'm going there soon, and look forward to exploring the list.
