Films about natural disasters or films that have natural disasters as part of their story. I'll start with a couple of my favorites:
The Impossible (2012) - true story of a family struggling to survive the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami
and The Day After Tomorrow (2004), not a great film, but one that I enjoy:

That's it, When Time Ran Out. I was thinking of that one too, but couldn't remember the name.

Avalanche (1978), not an especially great film, but one of the earliest VHS rentals I recall seeing. Basically, just another in a long line of 70's disaster themed movies, this one coming in towards the end.

1940 "Two men searching for black pearls are marooned on an island when their crew mutinies. There they run into a beautiful girl who had been washed up on the island in her childhood. They must fight angry natives and a typhoon in order to survive." Something about Lamour and that sarong seems to bring on the wind and the rain !

Mia Farrow was in Avalanche (1978), and followed it up the next year with Hurricane (1979), an even lesser entry into the disaster movie pantheon. Obviously, this was the last straw before Woody Allen came to rescue her career, temporarily.

The Poseidon Adventure The Towering Inferno Twister I have not seen the other two, but the whole point of The Towering Inferno was that it was an avoidable, man-made disaster.

A little disturbing in today's national climate.
Throws a new light on America's vogue for mass slaughter if such events are now regarded as natural disasters.

The Poseidon Adventure The Towering Inferno Twister I have not seen the other two, but the whole point of The Towering Inferno was that it was an avoidable, man-made disaster. I considered that, but once the fire gets going, it's still a natural disaster.
