Aliens, Gorillas in the Mist, Death and the Maiden and Copy Cat are pretty much a 4-way tie for me.

I love Cate Blacnhett, I like Marion Cotillard quite a bit and Angelina Jolie is hit or miss with me. I will say that I was surprised by how good her performance in Salt is, even though I don't like the movie itself. She definitely elevated the material. Eva Green has yet to truly impress me, but overall I am a fan.

I'd throw in Frances McDormand in 'Fargo.' Haven't seen Carrie Fisher yet either. (For me) Both hit a lot of the same beats Sigourney Weaver hits in being a no-nonsense, badass female hero. Weaver is a true force of nature though...unparalleled so far...for me at least.
Also Linda Hamilton. James Cameron is awesome with his female characters. The Sarah Connor of "T2" was incredible. Layered and complex, but still relatable. Great character
An additional mention of Marge Thompson in "A Nightmare on Elm St." She played the mother, who was gradually revealed to be quite the lush. There was a tinge of the weirdness of adolescence in "Nightmare" and part of it was finding out your parents weren't the saints they claimed to be. Thompson absolutely nailed the cold, distant drunk mother.
