So I take it they are taking a more comedic take on the character then a serious one. I am disappointed. BTW, who the Hell thought Lenny Luthor should be upgraded to Lex?

Goes to show the last time or how often I've watched Superman 4 (once 20+ years ago, not even all the way through); I didn't realize Jon Cryer had that role. Now I get the feeling that this casting was a legacy casting, and some nitwit thought it would be appropriate for "Lenny Luther" to get to play Lex, the same way other alumni have gotten tied into the show....

yeah, this does seem like legacy casting. And while it works sometimes, it's a miss in this instance. After the backlash towards Jesse Eisenberg they should have seriously reconsidered.

I don't mind Cryer in other stuff, he's never been someone I look forward to seeing in stuff though, he's usually a meh he's fine type for me, but for Lex? Jesus H Christ what the fuck were they thinking, like Kenobi said after the backlash for casting Eisenberg as Lex why would anyone think casting another prominently comedic actor in the role be either A: a welcome idea by the fans, B: A good fucking idea in the first place.
If they wanted to cast him in the show they should have done so and kept him as Lenny and made him Lena's uncle or something, legacy casting only works when the roles seem appropriate, you know like if they cast Tom Welling for something in the show, if they cast him as Lex it would be interesting to see someone play both Superman & Lex Luthor, had they cast him as Bouncing Boy not so much.
Who nows maybe Cryer will crush as Lex but im not holding out hope, Supergirl fumbles more often than not imo.

I can't really say I am that familiar with the actor's work and I roughly remember him playing Lex Luthor's son in the Superman movies with Christopher Reeve but that is all. I am hoping he turns out to be good though and will give him a chance 'cause there have been a number of actors and actresses cast in roles people thought would be awful but turned out to be really good so maybe he will surprise us as another member mentioned. I do think he is going to be a serious version of Lex though and we only need to look back at some of the things Lena has said about Lex in episodes and in 'Supergirl' it sounds like their Lex is very similar to the 'Smallville' version so I don't think he will turn out to be like Gene Hackman's version. Although I think they should have him call himself the greatest criminal mastermind in the world and be more of an egomaniac. That was something I feel was missing from 'Smallville's version which was in a number of comic books I have read and the 'Lois and Clark' version. Lex is meant to be an egomaniac. Here is an article about Lex I thought I might share on this thread. Wow. And I thought I was the only child of the 1980s to miss out on Brat Pack films.

Whoa. Ryan Reynolds was in Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Shop? They need to reference that in Deadpool 3.

Oh no you don't woman, Cryer didn't star in 2 guy and a girl, that was Richard Ruccolo who stared alongside Reynolds & Traylor Howard and also saw Nathan Fillion join the show in S2, now Suzanne Cryer was in the show from S2 on and she had a boyfriend played by Cryer who appeared in a single episode but he did NOT star in the show, I will not tolerate such bold faced fabrications of the truth about such a wonderous show.

Jon Cryer was the guy who was kid in that other show with Richard Branson, Marlon Brando, Don Cappuccino and Bella Fonte that only lasted for a short time in the 70s and had Thom Pace singing the theme song. I’m sorry for telling such bold fabrications of the truth. Can you find it in your heart to forgive me?

It appears we have an update and the very first picture of Lex Luthor in 'Supergirl.' What are your thoughts everybody and how do you think Lex Luthor is going to play into this season and do you think he has been behind the events of this season? I think he has been and Mercy Graves is secretly working for him and he has a plan. With a lot of people including Alex having their memories wiped of Kara being Supergirl this week Lex poses a big threat to Kara 'cause if his relationship is the same as it was with Clark in 'Smallville' as they have said it is and he knows Clark is Superman he will most likely know Kara is Supergirl or will figure it out. Behold, Supergirl's Lex Luthor In All His Beautifully Bald Brilliancewww.gizmodo.com.au/2019/01/behold-supergirls-lex-luthor-in-all-his-beautifully-bald-brilliance/
