My Mom is having a birth day pretty soon. So we will do that before Thanksgiving. Then on acual day we will have like 15 people over. I cook most years. I appreciate my family saying they can help, but I have a particular way I like to cook. And more than 1 person fucks up the rotation. Unless they want to wash the dishes before they start to pile up. I am making: dressing, giblet gravy, potato salad, baked beans, Parmesan asparagus, Honey Thyme Carrots, corn on the cob, Home style Mac and Cheese, Butter Beans, homemade yeast roll with honey butter . Finally I will fry the turkey about 40 minutes before the meal, But I have to soak the turkey in a Brine that I picked up the recipe for awhile back. It will soak for a day. I'll make the deserts a day early.and out of the way. Diabetic cheesecake, cherry cheesecake, sweet potato casserole, Strawberry pound cake with cream cheese icing, Pineapple Upside Down Cake,. and peach cobbler,
I really wanted to fry a ham this year because honestly I've never had fried Ham. I couldn't find the metal cage that would be big enough to hold a ham, but small enough to fit in my outdoor fryer. I think next year the family wants me to Smoke the turkey.
I know it looks like a lot but we have a tradition that all the family members get one dish that was for them specifically. We wait to that Member gets the portion of whatever dish that was made him. And then pass it around.
And of course the NFL games will be on. I will watch them but after that much food and football will lull me to sleep.
What does your family do?
