They're making an Eternals movie. I've never heard of them at all but then I'd never heard of Guardians of the Galaxy either.
Can anyone tell me anything about them?
Are you interested in this movie? I don't know what it could be about but supposedly Phase 4 is going deal with the Celestials so maybe this is gonna be an introduction to all that.

The Eternals are rad. They were created by Jack Kirby in the 70s.
They’re evolutionarily advanced beings made by the Celestials loooong ago to protect the Earth. They battle the Deviants.

^^^THIS^^^ If anyone can do it Marvel can.
The Eternals are basically demi-gods on whom the myths of the Greek Gods were built. They have an opposite race of villains called the Deviants. Though humanity at large does not know of these two races, how the Eternals defend themselves and humanity from the Deviants is the heart of the story.
The Eternals were created by Jack Kirby when he returned to Marvel, after doing a stint at DC, where he created The Fourth World corner of the DC Universe, which includes The New Gods. Jack had gods on the brain.
Am I excited about it? Not just yet. I'll need to see a trailer first. Could be another Inhumans (ugh), or could be another Avengers: Infinity War (yay)!

Very excited. I've always been a fan of the Eternals in the comics, can't wait to see what Marvel does with them on the big screen.

It will be interesting to see what it brings to the table. GOTG hit magic with the chemistry of the characters, cast, and writing. Maybe it will happen again, maybe not, but no hurt giving it a chance.

So the Celestials are mainly good? They are neither good nor bad. They are scientists who intervene in the evolution of sentient races they deem to be worthy.

They are neither good nor bad. They are scientists who intervene in the evolution of sentient races they deem to be worthy. Was Galactus one of them? No, Galan (his original name) was an explorer from an earlier universe who managed to escape it prior to its destruction. The big bang that destroyed his universe created ours, and he was somehow imbued with cosmic energies in the process. A Celestial is closer to the Judeo-Christian concept of a renegade angel. They rebelled against the Marvel Universe's creator figure and her/his loyalist factions billions of years ago. The creator wished to keep the universe static and in perfect harmony at all times. The Celestials disagreed with this notion and lobbied for dynamic change through the continuous evolution of sentient life. They fought a bitter war in which the Celestials, after suffering losses in the billions, appeared to have prevailed.

I see, well a look on the MCU Wikia says that Ego is a Celestial, something I suppose he said in the movie but his Marvel Wikipedia page for the comic version just says he's a Sentinent Planet. Looking at what the Celestials look like in the comic then they look like the guy that was shown in Guardians of the Galaxy but nothing at all like Ego.

Looking at what the Celestials look like in the comic then they look like the guy that was shown in Guardians of the Galaxy but nothing at all like Ego. You've done your homework I see. Yes, this is an area where I have to be critical of the way the MCU has adopted the Marvel cosmology. Ego, although referred to as a Celestial in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, is not one. Ego in the comic books is more or less a grumpy, rogue planet. One of my biggest problems with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was that they took away the traditional role of a Celestial and gave it to Ego. Celestials seed nascent worlds throughout the universe with life. They then manipulate the genetic building blocks of the dominant species to introduce special abilities that manifest under duress or radical environmental change. The Celestials perform experiments on populations and then leave them for a period of millennia before returning to review the results of their work. These visits are called "hosts." Each host brings judgment. If the species has progressed favorably, the host provides a safe and isolated environment for the test subjects and continues the experiments. Experiments that are found to be stagnant or progressing in an unsatisfactory manner are exterminated. The Celestials are, either directly or indirectly, responsible for the creation of Inhumans, Mutants, Deviants, and Eternals.

I never read any of the comics BUT I did read up on then through the wiki's and it sounds like a lot of fun.
I'm all for it either hope they look at Kirby art as inspiration for the visuals like Thor Ragnarok did.

The "location" Knowhere from Guardians of the Galaxy was meant to be the head of a Celestial too. I can't tell if it's just enormously larger than the one in the picture I posted or if that one is larger than it looks but again it doesn't look anything like Ego either.
So maybe they're changing things up but no if Ego wasn't a Celestial in the comic then I'd rather him have not been one in the movie either.

So the Celestials are mainly good? The Celestials are neutral. They see other life forms as things to be manipulated. So I guess you can say bad, if you're the one being manipulated.
The Eternals are MOSTLY good, but there are some "self interested" types amongst the bunch. Allegiances shift. The main bad guys in their story are the Deviants. The best way to describe them is smarter version of the Uruk Hai Orcs from LOTR: Fellowship. Strangely enough one of them turns out to be quite the good guy.
Thing about the Eternals (and even more so the Celestials) is they've never had a really long ongoing series. They mostly make appearances in other's books. Its hard to track down one overarching main story for them.
