The Matrix begat soulless shoot-em-ups such as 'Ecks versus Sever.'

There have always been movies that included characters with disabilities but they were few. Then, in 1988 and 1999, back-to-back Best Actor Oscars went to players who played disabled, viz., Dustin Hoffman and Daniel Day-Lewis in
Rain Man My Left Foot
This opened the floodgates. Every actor in the world wanted to be either cognitively or physically handicapped in order to win awards. 1996 continued the trend when Geoffrey Rush won Best Actor for “Shine.” Here is a VERY short list of disabled copycats: Elizabeth Shue in “Molly” Jodie Foster in “Nell” Leonardo DiCaprio in “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?” Russell Crowe in “A Beautiful Mind” Sean Penn in “I Am Sam” William H. Macy in “Door To Door” Cuba Gooding Jr. in “Radio” Mickey Rooney in “Bill” Judi Dench in “Iris” Julie Christie in “Away From Her” Robert DeNiro in “Awakening” Helena Bonham Carter in “The Theory Of Flight” Meryl Streep in “Iron Lady”
Just when I thought the trend was fading, both Best Actor AND Actress for 2014 went to playing disabled: Eddie Redmayne and Julianne Moore.

didn't Lucas admit he basically stole "Star Wars" from Kurosawa?

Dr. No pretty much started a trend of Eurospy films that lasted into the 1970s. didn't Lucas admit he basically stole "Star Wars" from Kurosawa? He was inspired by The Hidden Fortress when he was writing early drafts of Star Wars:
