I loved to watch this show, even thought it was little more than a 1/2 hour commercial for Jon Gnagy art supplies.
Well, when I was a teenager, my folks bought me the basic "Learn to Draw" kit. I'll always remember one evening where my best friend and I decided to draw the same thing--the rosy-cheeked little Mexican boy.
As encouraging as I tried to be, her drawing was very bad, while mine was exactly as it was supposed to look. Apologies for the brag. ;-) I felt encouraged to pursue art more diligently after that.
Jon Gnagy died decades ago; he is now forgotten and the franchise has disappeared. Very sad, IMO.

I had a Jon Gnagy "Learn to Draw" kit. I don't know if it was the basic or a more advanced one. It had a lot of supplies. I never learned to draw very well but I enjoyed the set immensely. I don't remember ever watching his show but I may have at some point.

I like to think that somewhere, up there, Jon Gnagy is hanging out with Bob Ross in some eternal artists' studio, with Gnagy drawing his charcoal shapes while Ross is busily daubing happy little trees.
