I have noticed that this seem to be a problem for some people. But for me this is not a problem if the movie is good its good even if its dated.
So is a dated movie for you a problem or are you like me that don`t care if a movie is dated ?

So is a dated movie for you a problem or are you like me that don`t care if a movie is dated ? Like you, I don't care if a movie is dated. For example, the computer technology in The Andromeda Strain (1971) is seriously dated, but I still love that movie.

NO it's not a problem for me. The contemporariness of 0ld movies is a large part of their charm.

If it has teletype or a telegraph I'm all in. I love seeing the old cars and old technology in film. I especially love the clothing. I wish the trend in men's fashion was still circa 1940.

They spend a fortune on props to make new movies look historically accurate and then people call old movies "dated" as a negative !

I'm more concerned about entertainment value than anything else. But if I'm not liking it, it's just something else to pile onto it.

I don't care. Most of my favorite movies are dated.

Not always. If it has some form of nostalgic factor, then I don’t mind it at all.

All movies are dated. The date is in the credits and on the back of the DVD case. I only have a problem if it is dated in roman numerals, those take too long to figure out.

It's kind of fun to watch movies from days gone by, especially when they try to depict the future.

The type of explosion at the top of Spook Central in Ghostbusters, the specific sound it makes isn't heard that much movies these days.

Not in the least. In fact I find it arrogant when people criticize movies for this, as if the stuff they're into will always be timeless.

I guess some movies that have a particular focus on certain social injustices of the period could be looked at as dated or less revolutionary as they were in the past, but it's important to view what was happening during the time frame to see it from their eyes and not 50 or 60 years later.

... I find it arrogant when people criticize movies for this, as if the stuff they're into will always be timeless. maybe a personal quirk but, for me, movies, in general,ARE timeless ! I do not understand this whole "dated" concept or what it means.
"Over-rated" is another popular phraseology that leave me wondering what they are talking about. How does many people liking a movie very much mean that it is a bad movie ? "Critques" that merely say "meh" as an opinion.. WHAT is that ? oops … wandering off the "dated" track …

So is a dated movie for you a problem or are you like me that don`t care if a movie is dated ? Hell no. In fact, that its dated adds some dimension to the watching experience. Do you know how many movies I would have to disown just because they're dated? Heck some my favorite movies ever! Star Wars is dated for crying out loud!
