First viewing of the 4 hour blu-ray Dances With Wolves and it was great. Even my wife said the time flew by....and she's been known to get restless at much shorter movies. She hadn't seen it since we took it at the cinema in it's first release. If I had to highlight one aspect - John Barry did it again. I purchased the CD as soon as it was released.

hitchcockthelegend You got that right. Mitch sometimes has his acting range somewhat underrated. He was always at home in westerns, for example, and in “Where Danger Lives” (1950) he plays Dr. Jeff, a kindly big city hospital doctor, compassionate, good with kids, and engaged to nurse Julie. That is, until he takes an interest in suicidal patient Faith Domergue. That’s not too far afield from his art teacher character in “The Locket.” He does a good job in both which are a little different from how we usually think of him. Thanks for your replies and your reviews. I'm a massive Mitchum fan. At his best when sleepwalking to his doom in noir or exuding menace in the likes of The Night of the Hunter/Cape Fear, but yes as you say he definitely was cut out for Westerns. There were some misfires like Young Billy Young/The Way West but then you got him as gold foil playing along side The Duke in El Dorado and macho moodiness in Man with the Gun.

Sudden Fear(52) The Harder They Fall(56) The Third Key(56) Did you like them mate, rating at all? I gave them 8.75, 8.75 and 9 respectively. A lot of the oldies tend to bore the pants off me but I just so happened to watch 3 that blew me away last week and had to mention them on here.

A different kind of movie week, I let my cousin pick the movies since he was staying here. It was an interesting theme week for me, found some movies I really liked by letting him pick them...others, I would have liked to have avoided completely. *My cousin, who is gay, and I both agreed that Alex Strangelove was better than the similar and more well known, Love, Simon, which was not as funny and seemed more forced.* *Cute animated movie, I can almost recall the old original cartoons* *A Canadian movie about a young man coming to terms with his sexuality, some different avenues explored here, mostly the family storyline.* *This was not good! Or maybe just not my thing! You've seen it all before: Let's enter a contest to save the strip club/summer camp/whatever.* *This was more like it, a classy emotional, beautiful film.* *My cousin finally allowed me to select one movie this week, like he was gonna be able to stop me from seeing a Coens western on Netflix!* *We both agreed to watch this Aussie killer mutant pig movie*
