Probably not, but I’m guessing it’ll be the highest grossing DC film in China.

I don't think so. All billion dollar comic movies had a backing and preconceived reputation. Avengers had the solo movie buildup, Black Panther had that thing, Batman had begins to show it's not Batman & Robin again... plus he's Batman and it's the Joker.
Aquaman has some negative connotations it still has to shed. I think it'll make a lot regardless of quality, but Spider-Man has never once made 900m$, despite many of the films being well received and the MCU/Downey bump. Wonder Woman barely brought in 800m$, despite it's prerelease fanfare and overall quality.
It's unrealistic to expect a solo film to make a billion, unless it has a tidal wave of momentum going up to release. Or if it's Batman. And now probably Iron Man.
Aquaman is looking solid, great trailers, positive vibe. It take soooooooo much more than that to be a bil. Could honestly end up as the best CBM of all-time, and it probably won't make a billion. Sequel then probably would though.

That'd be the icing on the cake for the series; the one character no one really had faith in to have the most successful solo installment. Kind of like how SS turned a better profit than BVS.

It's extremely possible.
Remember we were told that Black Panther wouldn't make a billion, Wonder Woman would flop, Avengers 3 wouldn't hit 2 billion and Trump wouldn't become President.
Never say never.

It's extremely possible. Remember we were told that Black Panther wouldn't make a billion, Wonder Woman would flop, Avengers 3 wouldn't hit 2 billion and Trump wouldn't become President. Never say never. Its impossible for Aquaman to reach a billion.
Blockbuster films that reach a billion need 1 of 3 things. Artificial boosters, very strong nostalgia hype or the most difficult aspect, an instant classic quality of movie.
Black Panther is artificially boosted as being the first black led superhero flick and it got a ton of PR to hype it up. Avengers 2 was boosted by Avengers 1. Avengers 3 boosted by Avengers 2. Dark Knight Rises boosted by Dark Knight. Iron Man 3 boosted by Avengers 1. The Last Jedi boosted from TFA. I would put Avatar in this as well since its boosted from being the first of its kind in technological leaps. Aquaman has no fuel for artificially boosting it up to a billion either from any milestone marks or previous entries.
Nostalgia hype is evident for films like Jurassic World and TFA, long awaited restarts of beloved franchises from another era. Or Jumanji (2017) and Jungle Book (2016) came up just short of a billion. You can guarantee yourself that the new Lion King will make a billion +. Aquaman has zero nostalgic value considering hes a C list character.
Finally, films that are so insanely good that word of mouth becomes super strong, pushes them to a billion. Dark Knight being the best example. Others include Titanic, Skyfall, original Jurassic Park. Aquaman is not going to reach that level looking at the trailers.
The best it can do is 700-800 million mark, similar to Ragnarok and Venom.

Hell the trailers hit all the checkmarks. ✓ Humor and comedy ✓ over the top action scenes ✓ CGI porn ✓ Colorful outfits and costumes Out of all the DC films, this has a shot. Obviously it will depend on how the general audience react to it, but it is the same audience that made Transformers billions in the box office.

If BvS couldnt make it then Aquaman needs a miracle to reach 1bill.

Unlikely unless it strikes some Zeitgeist nerve. I do not see what that could be though. The underwater experience in Imax maybe.
Billion grossers usually pander to the lowest common denominator and are not too interesting anyway.

Venom is 7 weeks into its release and it is over $800 million worldwide. I doubt it will get to $900 million by the end of its run.

Depending how well things go in China It's got to make a lot of money domestically to get past $1 billion. We're talking a domestic opening weekend of over $160 million. Now, what will help is the fact that the film will have early releases (prior to December 21st) in China, Australia, most of Europe, part of South America, and to Amazon Prime subscribers. That would make the film look like it is making money prior to the domestic release and could cause an (artificial) buzz/hype among movie goers (kind of similar to the way Marvel does it with their MCU movies). The film should show a Worldwide BO of over $200 million by the time we get to December 21st, which could influence the BO for that weekend (note that that would be the start of the holiday period). If any thing they could advertise the fact that the film made a lot of money by December 25, and they will include that in their total. There might be some records broken. It was a good decision not to move the domestic release date up.

Doubt it. I'm thinking around $800 million. I feel like WW2 will the one to break a billion.... though who knows. If freakin Transformer movies can break a billion I don't see why Aquaman can't. I'd love it for just the irony, how the least respected member of the JLA for decades ends up being the most successful one out of all of them in this new age.

Having cedano spamming youtube vlogs on its box office success i woulda guessed it made 3 billion. But i am really surprised. The china/asia opening really propelled it and i guess i underestimated their market.
