Both are forgetable but Venom has more interesting and unpredictable story.
Spiderman is by the numbers.

I saw SMH on a plane and forgot all about it except that good old RDJ looked very bored in it.
VENOMI saw on the small screen and, while being a derivative story, it has some things going for it. Like a powerhouse lead performance and some grotesquely absurd stuff, like those babbling body snatchers biting heads off of people.
In a sea of same-y mainstream movies it was at least entertainingly different. Would watch it again some day.

I didn't like either, but Homecoming is definitely better than Venom.
Venom is... I don't know. I guess isn't really Venom. The character is relly different from the one I knew and Ton Hardy, while an excellent actor, is not suited to play Eddie Brock.
The overall tone of both movies is light, but I found Venom really stupid at times, while Homecoming is generally better written, albeit a tad boring.
Also, the CGI in Venom is quite fake and distracting, while on average in Homecoming is way better.
I have the nagging feeling that Venom is a movie from an era when superhero movies didn't bother to respect the source material and probably would've been better served after the character's outing in a Spider-Man movie.
For the life of me, I can't understand the appeal of Venom (the movie), but TBH, lately I rarely do...

20 votes for SMHC and 13 for Venom. Weird, didn't know we had 33 people frequenting this board.

RDJ has not acted in an mcu movie since iron man 1. its a shame really since this is where he fails compared to Hugh wolverine who is now just as iconic as Christopher Reeves Superman. mcu had the opportunity to make Iron Man a true iconic character, a character who has been on this journey, who grew and developed but nope. once they saw him as their best cash cow they just dumbed him down and rdj has since been then be phoning in performances though I dont blame him since it is not like he has a good material to work with.

Venom for sure. Homecoming was too campy I can deal with campy. Hoemcoming was too childish. This is the mindset that resulted in really lame comic book films back in 1990s and 2000s.

Venom, hands down because of the Mr Hardy's wonderfully weird interpretation of the characters. That alone make it a standout. Both films are overally mediorce entries though.
Still, Sony Pictures might finally have made a great Spiderfilm again: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse - Currently at 100% and average ratig of 8.7 (!) some critics claim it's the best SM since the originals or even the best ever redefining the CBM genre. Not bad.

I will probably watch the whole thing, eventually. The part I saw was extremely dumb. He was bouncing around on gas station roofs and stuff for like 3 minutes straight. It was literally one of the stupidest scenes I have ever seen in a film. I can picture it, But I can’t remember it Before he gets trapped in the government vault. Tazer-webs.

Neither nor. Both movies are exteme boring. Too much blabla, and lacks the action. Just typical for a superhero solo-movie.

Venom for sure. Homecoming was too campy I can deal with campy. Hoemcoming was too childish. Good heavens. I cant think of the last time my 58 yr old ass found a superhero movie "childish" Adults don't do that Juvenile, maybe, but I can't think of any adults dismissing an experience as such outside of an actual kid thing like ferrying the kids to see The Grinch or the latest Disney cartoon. I don't know of any adults who dismiss a movie as being for kids. Usually because they have kids of their own & appreciate any chance to get a bit of peace & quiet. Did you ever notice most of the claddic Disney kid animations are about an hour long? Little Mermaid-83 minutes. Snow white-83 minutes. Cinderella-74 minutes Bambi-70 minutes Aladdin is long at 90 minutes. Trust me, when your kid is 3-4, everything longer than 60 minutes can be a chug. Aladdin was my kid's first theater experience-matinee & we nearly left before the end because her 2 yr old attention drifted towards the end. I was...57 when I saw Homecoming I saw Stan Lee say Holland was the right build, that he didnt envision Spidey as super muscular & I would have to say they was my feeling as well. Homecoming gave us that first high school Peter Parker. Very much a kid learning through his mistakes. The scene on the roller coaster, where he looks wiped is so VERY my vision of Spidey-even when he wins, he loses sometimes.

Venom only did so well because of good will from Spider-Man: Homecoming. I haven't seen Venom and don't intend to. How do you explain its Box Office legs then?
