Bluray(1980/1984) Hell of the Living Dead/Rats: Night of Terror blood soaked double feature(2001) Down aka The Shaft (1974) Deathdream aka Dead of Night Bought during the MVD Blue Underground sale. Finally upgraded from my old Anchor Bay Hell DVD. I flipped Down's reversible wrap to The Shaft. Down is a better title, but I first saw it as The Shaft on a rainy Saturday morning in 2008. That is what I've always known it as and I like the cheesy cover art that shamelessly rips off the cover art of that other Naomi Watts horror The Ring. I flipped Deathdream's wrap to Dead of Night. Again, Deathdream is a better title but the new cover art makes it look like an Italian crime thriller or giallo with the gun, black glove and layout. I love the Dead of Night original artwork, very creepy. Such a disturbing off kilter movie. True nightmare fuel. A return that is inexplicable I decided that he came back by willpower/a sort of sense of sonly duty to his short of a full deck and devastated mother. Maybe she willed him back as well. and never should have been. I thought about it for days after, the first time I saw it.

Especially *spoilers* The scene he grabs up and strangles the hapless Dog while it cries and his poor kid cries. Horrific! I've watched "The Shaft" remake and it was alright... Felt bad for the seeing eye Dog... I see the original "The Shaft" is on Tubi. Haven't watched it yet.

I've never seen The Lift either. I'll buy it next time someplace has a BU sale. From the trailer (and artwork) I do like the creepy look of the painted red elevator doors.

Today I grabbed a couple DVDs from the markets; I remember cathing Monkey Shines and another ape/monkey themed late night chiller, in Link (1986), back in the mid 00s, on late night cable. I guess neither were what I would think of, as "great", but still fun and kind of creepy releases, and where I picked up Monkey Shines, years ago, but have not yet done so, with Link.

I had a few "big" plans, of awaiting further on, this summer, before I would do a bit of impulse buying, online. But I just could not wait, when I "stumbled" upon these two 80s titles: The first one, I have never seen, but it has been on my watchlist/buy list movie radar, for a while now, as a recent scandinavian DVD and Blu-ray release is out, during the 18th of this month. So it will mean, I have to wait a bit longer, but hopefully that will be no problem, yet. Anyway, The Dreamteam, looks like a promising one. Always wanted to check up, on a few more of Michael Keaton, and his 80s comedies. This film has a very likeable and colorful cast, and only heard good things about it. Brainstorm however, I have seen a few times, and while maybe not as solid as The Dead Zone (released that same year of 1983), I have always enjoyed the emotional sci-fi suspense it comes with, and I guess one of the main reasons to why I have not picked it up, much earlier, is because of the terrible (or so it seems) reputation it has, considering the DVD releases, and where fans has blasted the picture and sound "quality", over and over. Anyway, hopefully this rather pricy 2012 Blu-ray, might be a bit better. At least, I finally got my hands on this little Walken 80s gem, but damn, that artwork is truly a work of shame. Looks like something I could have done within a few minutes, or less. So cheap and random. Thankfully, it is what is inside, that counts, but still, why does the Blu-ray format, come with so many horrible updated artworks? I just loathe how badly they are treated.

I haven't seen either movie mentioned... but really dug "Meteor" which also starred Holloway. Very emotional disaster scenes. I think it still plays on the Comet or another channel down here time to time... It's where I first watched it.

I haven't seen Brainstorm, but it sounds interesting. I was surprised to see it was released in 1983, since Natalie Wood died in 1981.
Okay, according to the imdb trivia section she died near the end of principal photography and studio executives tried to kill the film and claim insurance saying that director Douglas trumbull could not complete the film which led to a lot of hostility between Trumbull and the studio.
Too bad it only seems to be available for Region 2 as a Spanish language blu-ray with English subtitles.

I was not aware it was made in 1981, and not released until 83, but the Natalie Wood accident, I sure knew of. Sad, if all the problems and tragedies surrounding the filming, caused Trumbull to shy away of making more of these sci-fi films, but yeah, glad Brainstorm finally got made, even if it probably did not become a success at the time, it feels like one of those not that known/talked about, could have been a minor cult release.

I had a few "big" plans, of awaiting further on, this summer, before I would do a bit of impulse buying, online. Well, I threw those plans, of awaiting further on, and dived in and ordered a small bunch of movies, where several have been on my to-do list, for a very long time. Got a bit pricy, here and there, kind of shocking how some of the films has gotten so ridiculous in prices, but then again, I have not done much online movie shopping, for a few months, and felt I should "finish" off for now, and be sure that I have nice portion of films to look forward of getting to see later this summer. I ended up ordering from three different stories, as the prices differed a lot, from one to another, and of course, also not everyone, had the same kind of movies or releases, as the other one. I got up to a total of 21, but including the two I ordered a few days ago, it ends with 23, and I decided that, yeah that is a good number, for now. Inspired by the similar themed thread, the general section, I noticed that someone had picked up a new KL DVD release of The Wild Life (1984), which I have been meaning of catching up with, as it loosk like a fun film, with lots of familiar faces. Summer of 92 (2015) - DVD A danish comedy, about the events (I think) where the danes, eventually won (against all odds), the European Football Cup, which they also held that year, and I really look forward to that one, as I remember being only a little kid when it happened, but my dad was glued to the radio, for most the summer trip, where I was too busy reading Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics, and eating ice cream. Drop Dead Fred (1991) - DVD Not sure what to expect, but I have had it in my watchlist for ages now, and of course, Phoebe Coates is a big reason to that, but I am sure, I actually caught a hold of some of the film, years ago, when it was sent on norwegian late night cable. De Største Helte (1996) - DVD Another danish release, and once again starring Ulrich Thomsen, and this is directed by Thomas Vinterberg, who also made the fantastic Festen and Jagten, and just recently Druk or One More Round with Mads Mikkelsen. Clue (1985) - DVD Another 80s movie, I have been meaning to see, for years. Somehow, never got around to it, but now I felt it was time to give it a go. Looks like an interesting suspense/mystery comedy, solid cast and yeah, this could be a good one. Her Alibi (1989) - DVD One of the more pricy purchases, not sure if it is worth it, but since I have always been a fan of Tom Selleck, I have been meaning of trying to catch up with most of his 80s and 90s movies. This, I guess is a romantic comedy, or something similar. A Warner Archive release, and these usually tend to go a bit higher in prices, but the picture and sound quality is often very good. Of course, the most important thing, is that the film itself, is not all bad. Crimewave (1985) - Blu-ray This one, I just had to pick up. A very brand new, 2020 release, and since I just caught up with the film online, through a pretty good (in picture and sound) quality version, but I felt the film might benefit, from being re-watched and with subtitles as well. I think this has a great re-watchable potential, so much fun and quirky and weird stuff and characters, and loved the atmosphere as well. Would be a great film, to watch again, during a hot late summer night. The Philadelphia Experiment (1984) - Blu-ray Kind of like the opposite, of where The Final Showdown (1980) went, instead of having the 80s turn back to the 40s, you have the 40s I think, heading into the 80s. I have seen it, but it has been a while, and always wanted to give it another round. This is a recently put out, swedish Blu-ray version, and yeah, there seemed to be a lot time travel related films during the 80s, and I guess this sadly, did not become that much of a success, and it hurted the chances for Michael Pare, to reach for the leading man potential, along with Streets of Fire, which also did badly, but at least, the latter one, seemed to have ended up as quite a cult movie. Pulse (1988) - DVD Another pure impulse purchase. I kind of, almost only picked it up, because of the title/artwork, of course, I did look up the trailer, and thought, yeah, that will do, for now. Jake Speed (1986) - Blu-ray Arrow release, and one that I know is lying around, I think through several free full movie version on Youtube, and other sites as well. But, well, it looks fun, very much like in the same style, as other mid 80s action-adventure releasers, like Remo Williams and Big Trouble in Little China. If it is anything like the ones mentioned, I would be a very happy customer. The Man Who Would Be King (1975) - DVD This one, has continued to slip me by, for some time. I am pretty sure, someone recommended it to me, on the old action and adventure section, here, back in 2017 or 18. Always wanted to look it up, and caught hold of a cheaply priced DVD, so yeah, hopefully it lives up to my expectations. Howling II: Your Sister is a Werewolf (1985) - Blu-ray Arrow, once more. And yeah, I have lots of favorite films, I feel I should upgrade from VHS and DVD, into Blu-ray, and I guess most people would think it is kind of a waste, to head for something like the "worst" movie of all time, and not go for better ones. But I love this damn cheesy and hilarious piece of cinematic trash, and if not for the "quality" or acting, I feel the sight of Sybil Danning and her two large and lovely "talents", popping out, several times over, is almost alone worthy, to pick it up, in a remastered edition. Of course, I am also very tempted to look up all the stories and interviews, about this film and how it turned so much, the other way from the classic original movie. Moon 44 (1990) - Blu-ray Another Michael Pare sci-fi/action film, and one that features lots of familiar faces, and has also been on my radar, for a while now. Syngenor (1990) - DVD A rather pricy one, for what I guess is another trashy b-movie, but since it looks quite fun, comes with a lively cast, and is the "sequel" to the one with the whistling rubber-monster, from Scared to Death (1980), I felt I needed to look it up. I thought of the Synapse or Prism releases, but I noticed that several unhappy customers, complained that these versions might not be complete and cut to pieces, and I found this german uncut and more recent version, and I hope I did the right choice. Would suck, if it is another butchered victim of the cencorship. The Prey (1984) - Blu-ray Once again, Arrow release and impulse buy, but it looks like a nice or enjoyable b-movie backwood slasher, and I really do enjoy these 80s slashers releases by Arrow, and they did one hell of a job with Blood Rage (1987), which I got a while back, and enjoyed very much. Idle Hands (1999) - DVD Never seen, but always wanted to do so. Seems like a kind of a cult-movie, which I guess never quite made it at the time, but yeah, interesting cast and I hope this one is a keeper. Blast From The Past (1999) -DVD Another late 90s release, that I have often heard only good things about, but never gotten around to catch up with. Alicia Silverstone, damn, I were head over heels in live with her, back in the mid 90s, and always thought she would become a bigger star, but I guess by the late 90s, her career had faded away, due to being involved with some big box office flops, and well, this is probably a romantic comedy, and again involving time travels. At Close Range (1986) - DVD Another Chris Walken film, I have not seen for ages, but always wanted to give another go. Remember it had strong performances by the Penn brothers, came with a great soundtrack, and yeah, this I am really looking forward to watch again. True Confessions (1981) - DVD Robert Duvall and Robert De Niro, as two brothers (or so I rememered it), having to work together, in order to solve a gruesome murder, and yeah, that is pretty much what I got, what I saw a bit of it, on late night cable, back in the 00s. Goddess of Love (1988) - DVD Well, I am a bit of a sucker, for these cheesy late 80s romantic comedies, and I guess the plot, is not that far away of Mannequin, where a lonely guy falls for a mannequin in the window, and all of a sudden, it turns into a hot and steamy Kim Cattrall, and yeah, if love would be that simple. Find a sexy female statue, and wish for it, to turn into a hot dame at night, the end. Ninja III: The Domination (1984) - Blu-ray & DVD I should probably have re-purchased Enter the Ninja, as my scandinavian DVD copy, has butchered the classic and hilarious final climax with Christopher George. But then again, I felt I needed to close of the Cannon Ninja trilogy, (or did they make more of these?) and Ninja III sure looks like a fun time.

Her Alibi and Blast From the Past are solid romantic comedies. The latter is rather creative and perfectly cast. I’ll be curious about your thoughts on Moon 44. Good cast, but I found it mostly dull and repetitive. The Prey is a pretty rough backwoods slasher. Very slow paced. It’s kind of like the Hills Have Eyes meets Just Before Dawn. But very inferior. And a word of warning; there’s a lot padded nature stock footage. I’ve seen it a couple times now and it’s grown on me. Something about it’s atmosphere, and I’m a sucker for backwoods slashers. Also the arrow bluray looks great, and extras are impressive. Did you get the 1 disc or 2 disc set? You’re in for a treat with Ninja III.

Yeah, I kind of wanted to go for one of the cheaper priced versions of Syngenor, but sometimes I have had a few difficulties, with Prism Leisure and their horribly edited/butchered copies of very violent or gory 80s and early 90s films, where I believe The Toxic Avenger, is surely one of their most famous victims. So once I saw some rather unhappy customers and their reviews, I decided that, well, not gonna fool me again. I usually have only positive things to say about my experiences with Synapse, but again, if they have cut the film, the I am not very interested. So hopefully, I did the right choice and went by this german Cult-classic-edition DVD, and it says it has a runtime of 95 minutes, or so. Anyway, yeah, from what I saw of the trailer, it felt like a very different movie, and knowing also that David Gale stars in it (was this his last movie?), also made me want to hunt it down. I actually did not notice, until you mentioned it, that there were two version released by Arrow, of The Prey. I guess I ended up with the 1 disc-version, but to be honest, I guess the reason was because of the price. Kind of annoying, if the film turns out to be a stinker, and I blew away too much money on a 2 d-disc version, where the second disc is of absolute no use. But I hope for the "best", or at least a fun or pleasant cheesy ride into the wilderness, and yeah, nature stock footage and a bit of amateurish atmosphere, can often go a long way, with these 80s backwoods slasher. But the 1 disc version, do come with lots of bonus material, so I guess the first release from 2019, where more aimed at the die hard fans, who were willing to dish out a few extra bucks, in order to get the limited edition, or something like that, where as the cheaper one, got a release, a year later on. Yeah, I really, really dig the Arrow releases. So many great looking and fun filled 80s releases, and the list of Blu-rays that I want to get, is just getting larger and larger, but I decided to take it a bit easy, as one could easily blow away a bit too much on these impulse buys, and kind of sucks, if most of them turns sour, at the end of the day. But with Blood Rage (1987), and how much fun that one was, I feel that I will keep on coming back, for some more 80s slasher-cheese, and hope it turns out for the good. Ninja III also seems to have a few other recently put out Blu-ray versions, but since one is of the spanish (I believe) release, and I have heard lots of, well, not so good stories of these unofficial editions, where as the other, and much newer Blu-ray release of The Domination, sadly were of Code A, which means I have to go out, and pick up a Blu-ray player, that only works with american and canadian copies, and that is not gonna happen, as I already have 3-4 Blu-ray players and, yeah, I am through wasting more money on those, for now. Moon 44 is probably not a great one, but from the look of it, it has that "classic" late 80s and early 90s, b-movie sci-fi/action style and atmosphere, with lots of smokey rooms and dark hallways, that and quite a solid cast as well.

I own the synapse DVD of Syngenor, but I had no idea about it possibly being cut up. Very different film to Scared to Death. Pretty much it’s David Gale’s show. The Guyver is credited as Gale’s last film. Seen the Japanese anime, but not this live action movie. I had no idea it was directed by Screaming Mad George. Though I see people tend to prefer the sequel; Dark Hero. I do have a multi-region blu-ray player, but I do prefer to pick up region B/or all regions blu-rays if they’re available for particular films. The second disc of The Prey included the International cut of the film, a fan cut which combined footage of the theatrical and international cut & 45 minutes of Outtakes. I wasn’t a fan of the international cut, so I could have lived with 1 disc release. However the slipcover looks great. I do have a number of Arrow blurays. Quite a few of Dario Argento films, House box set, Hills Have Eyes and Bride of Re-Animator limited edition sets, videodrome, frankenhooker, the ‘burbs etc. 88 films do have a decent looking slasher catalogue.

The Guyver movies, I have been meaning to check out, ever since I saw them a few years back (2017) at one of the few local music and movie stores left in my country. But the import prices, were so ridiculous high, I just decided to put in on a hold, for now. Might give them ago, later on. I just noticed (got a bit panicked) that the Mill Creek Blu-ray of a few films I just ordered (Pulse being one of them), has it read as a Code A, but then I were reminded that the recently (from my last purchase, in late march this year) bought Blu-ray of Band of the Hand, also said it was a Code A version, but that worked like a charm with my Blu-ray player. So I guess Mill Creek, is the place to go, when looking for american/canadian releases. Speaking of Arrow, I do have plans on upgrading both Phenomena, Inferno and Deep Red, which I believe all three has been put out by the mentioned company, and Videodrome, Frankenhooker and The Burbs are also on my list. But I take one film at the time, and since the swedish movie shop, I ordered a few titles from, seems to always have a nice discount, on most of their Arrow releases, I decided that I could not ignore the neat looking Howling II Blu-ray, any longer. Yeah, 88 films is another favorite of mine. Love their impressive collection, and how much effort they seem to bring forward to their releases, even if a lot of them are not exactly "great" films.

Bluray (1975) Switchblade Sisters
Snoopy Collection -(1969) A Boy Named Charlie Brown -(1972) Snoopy Come Home -(1977) Race For Your Life Charlie Brown -(1980) Bon Voyage Charlie Brown
(1980) Can't Stop The Music
(1996) Kingpin
So happy to own all four Peanuts movies on Blu in one package with perfect cover art. Race and Bon Voyage will get a lot of rewatches by me.
Kingpin is one of my favorite top 10 comedies. I have it on VHS (I think. I know I used to) but for some reason I never got around to buying on DVD.

Bluray(1996) Kingpin Kingpin is one of my favorite top 10 comedies. I have it on VHS (I think. I know I used to) but for some reason I never got around to buying on DVD. Is the Blu-ray version, one which also features the Director's Cut? I have purchased the film, several times over, on DVD but still not gotten around to upgrade it to Blu-ray, which is something I might look into, as yeah, Kingpin is surely among my favorite 90s comedies, and one of the few, which I believe benefits from having a longer uncut version, that includes some very funny and memorable scenes, and yeah, I would love to own it on Blu-ray as well, as it is that kind of re-watchable, and yeah, Vanessa Angel alone, should be enough to make me go for it, once more.
