Malone, nice pick up. I’ll be surprised if you don’t get something out of it. Especially since you didn’t mind ‘Heat’. And ‘Malone’ is a straight-up action-thriller. I was really hoping for far more movies to arrive this week. However, only a handful has done so, but I guess next few weeks will be more rewarding. Still, today Malone hit my mailbox, and while the DVD artwork (from a Limited Archive Edition MGM release) looked rather poor, I sure am looking forward to watching it, and while no subtitles, no bonus features or anything is included, the movie sound/picture actually seems very nice. I did notice, an American/Canadian Blu-ray release has been put out, but that means I have to buy a Blu-ray player, for Code A releases, and have no plans of doing so, only for 1 film. The spanish version, seemed to look alright, until I read some very angry and frustrated reviews from not exactly too "happy" customers, who got suckered in, thinking it was the English version. That is why I rarely jump on the Spanish Blu-rays or DVDs, no matter how tempting they might look, they always sounds fishy in sound and picture quality, and this is where I feel the German Blu-ray and DVDs are surely way superior. Also the Spanish often do not include English language/sound/subtitles, but somehow still tries to fool people into believing they do so. The German however, I have never had any trouble with, and will be continuing to collect more rare or hard to find releases, specailly on Blu-ray.

Neither one had sub-titles, and the picture quality on the German bluray I remember being somewhat grainy. So you might be better off staying with dvd.

You really went to town, Stefan . A great varied selection of picks. While I didn’t splurge like yourself. I did order, and picked up around 10 blurays during the Black Friday sales. Half came from an online Vinegar Syndrome sale. I could ramble on, but I’ll pick a few to mention. Point Blank is a great pulp crime film. The colours just pop. Creative visuals. While Lee Marvin is at his rigid best. Dudikoff’s Avenging Force and River of Death. The former is probably my favourite of his action films, and John Ryan made for entertaining villain. While the latter film one of his lesser outings. At least an animated Donald Pleasance came along for the jungle ride. I see you grabbed a couple of Sho Kosugi‘s American starring vehicles. Not on the same level as Revenge of the Ninja, but definitely an improvement over Black Eagle. I remember enjoying the ridiculous “Pray for Death” the most of the two. Since you grabbed ‘The Last Embrace’. I definitely recommend ‘The Seven-Ups’ for an excellent 1970s Roy Scheider film. A lean, gritty and mean cop drama. Some good car chases, and a menacing Richard Lynch. The Bedroom Window was a well done Hitchcock homage. Probably could have pushed the boundaries to make up for the formulaic developments. You could tell Guttenberg was trying to break away from the humorous roles. One Crazy Summer was a nice follow up to Better off Dead. Probably even a little more enjoyable when it goes off the rails. Malone, nice pick up. I’ll be surprised if you don’t get something out of it. Especially since you didn’t mind ‘Heat’. And ‘Malone’ is a straight-up action-thriller. I look forward to see what you think of Force Vengeance, and Hellhound. It’s the same Chuck Norris triple feature I own. I hope I don’t get your hopes too high for the likes of Malone and Forced Vengeance. But they’re definitely comfort food for me. Frankenhooker is a rock solid Arrow release. Speaking of Frankenhooker and Arrow UK, I did notice that they are putting out Basket Case (1982) on Blu-ray in winter of 2022, and even though I just recently picked up the 2014 trilogy set on that same format, I guess the chances of re-buying it for the third time, is very realistic. By the way, out of curiositiy. Which titles did you pick up from the Vinegar Syndrome sale? I thought Arrow had already released Basket Case? Or are they upgrading it. This what I picked up during the Black Friday sales; Vinegar Syndrome; Steel and Lace (1991) The Lamp (1987) The House of Usher (1989) Shallow Grave (1987) Sunny/More than Sisters dvd Also another online order elsewhere; Cold Sweat (1970) Siege (1983) Wild Geese II (1985) In store; The Howling (1981) bluray Rambo Last Blood (2019) bluray I Like to Watch/Sorority Girls bluray …… And today I purchased a bunch of DVDs/and blurays at a local alcohol store getting rid of their movie rentals for a $1 each. His Name is Jason: 30 Years of Friday the 13th (2009) Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy (2010) Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom bluray The Loved Ones (2009) bluray Flashback (1999) Better Watch Out (2016) The Woods (2005) The Devil’s Candy (2015) The Limehouse Golem (2016) Final Examination (2003) The Bay (2012) Megalodon Shark Attack III (2006) The Tripper (2007) The Predator (2018)

Blu-ray The Critters Collection box set -(1986) Critters -(1988) Critters 2: The Main Course -(1991) Critters 3 -(1992) Critters 4
(2018) Proud Mary
4K UHD/Blu-ray (2018) Overlord (2021) The Suicide Squad steelbook
So glad to upgrade the Critters movies from the old WB 4 Film Favorites DVD set.
Proud Mary is a fun modern blaxploitation. Taraji P. Henson is sexy and has screen prescence but I don't quite buy her as an ice cold hitwoman. The final all out assault on the bad guys' building is a hell of fun ride. Guns blazing, crashes and explosions, martial arts and kick assery.

Neither one had sub-titles, and the picture quality on the German bluray I remember being somewhat grainy. So you might be better off staying with dvd. Just seen the film, a few days ago. And yeah, this was surely my kind of action-thriller. Maybe my favorite Burt Reynolds performance, at least of those I have seen from him in the 80s, and I am glad I did pick up the rather pricy DVD version, as the picture and sound quality was very good, for these Limited Arhcive editions, but I do hope one day, maybe I might find a DVD or Blu-ray with some subtitles and bonus features, but I guess this is not among Reynolds more famous/well known releases. Wrote a bit of the film in the Last Action Film Watched, and also had very pleasant views with both Point Blank and Uncommon Valor as well. Still have a shitload of films not yet arriving, but yesterday my mailbox almost "exploded" when I opened it, so things have surely started to pick up. Also, I kind of enjoyed White Line Fever (1975), even though the mid part kind of got a bit too repetitive (I mean how many times did Martin Kove get knocked down by Jan-Vincent?) and yeah, it felt like one of those which could have turned into a potential cult-film, but at least it was way better, than what I feared it would be.

I thought Arrow had already released Basket Case? Or are they upgrading it. My bad. In fact, I was quite sure, I had seen the image/artwork of the 2018 Blu-ray before, but I guess my recent purchase of the 2014 trilogy Blu-ray set, had "wiped" out that memory. Yeah, I believe the upcoming 2022 release, will feature (most likely) some new interesting features, as well as a 4K remaster. Anyway, since I did not pick up on the 2018 version, this will surely be close on my radar of upcoming releases. His Name is Jason: 30 Years of Friday the 13th (2009) Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy (2010) Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom bluray The Loved Ones (2009) bluray Flashback (1999) Better Watch Out (2016) The Woods (2005) The Devil’s Candy (2015) The Limehouse Golem (2016) Final Examination (2003) The Bay (2012) Megalodon Shark Attack III (2006) The Tripper (2007) The Predator (2018) Oh man, that is some lovely stuff you have picked up. Almost makes me want to head out, for yet another haul of DVDs and Blu-rays, but since I have at least 25-30 movies not yet arriving, I think it would be wise, to hold that thought for now. But yeah, I almost did pick up Siege (through another movie company) and the Lamp I have through some 4 movie horror all night marathon release, by Scream Factory, but I think it has another different title to it. The Bronson movie, looks very interesting, and knowing the lovely Liv Ullman also stars (I remember reading that she was afraid of Bronson, and he was not too "thrilled" about his female co-worker either, and where Jill Ireland joked about the reason to why she played his love interest in so many of his films, was down to female actors, being intimidated by Bronson. Wild Geese II loos interesting as well. I really like Scott Glenn, a tough, no nonsense guy, who is one of those I felt should have been a bigger name within the action genre during the 80s and 90s. I sure miss the days, when I could pick up a bunch of cheap rental DVDs and Blu-rays, from junk food stores, but sadly most of these places are long gone, or has been more or less wiped out of business, specially for the past year or more, due to the neverending cycle of lockdowns.

It reads crazy. Like an insane version of ‘Eve of Destruction’ with a revenge slant. And After grabbing ‘Rambo Last Blood’, I feel like rewatching the entire Rambo series. I do own that Scream Factory horror 4 pack with ‘The Outing’ aka The Lamp. Mainly grabbed it for The Outing and The Vagrant. I was going to get their bluray release (which is now OOP), but I’m glad I missed it. As the Vinegar Syndrome release looks better. Supposedly ‘The Lamp’ has scenes which were cut from the ‘The Outing’ release. Plus there are extras, while Scream Factory’s blu was bare bones. I’m trying to get a lot of Bronson’s movies on bluray. There are some I might still stick with the dvd I own (Breakout, Chino). However Cold Sweat i own on a crappy budgeted dvd. As for the film, it’s middle of the road Bronson. Comparable maybe to ‘Violent City’. Kinda on the slow and bumpy side, and not a particularly exciting kidnapping tale. However the seaside locations are striking and a couple set-pieces do come off. The uncomfortable nature of Liv Ullman around Bronson shows as there’s little to no chemistry between the two. Honestly the cast do look a little lost, but I think(?) there were behind the set issues. Hopefully the commentary track might discuss ‘em. Wild Geese II might be by the numbers in its secret mission narrative. But the cast to do carry it along. In some ways I prefer over the star studded original. Scott Glenn would’ve definitely suited that action man persona of the 80s, but looking at his filmography is was varied in genres. Maybe he didn’t like to be pigeonholed? I know, rental stores are virtually extinct… with maybe an odd shop around. When I was in the city last weekend, I accidentally stumbled across one. Had an excellent selection of local releases and imports. I grabbed from their sale section “The Stalking Moon” and “Charley Varrick”. Interestingly I came across an article on the store, which stated they were selling and hoping to find a buyer before their lease finishes at the end of February 2022. I don’t know how likely it’ll be to get a buyer, probably extremely low, but it’ll be interesting if they start to sell off their movies come the new year.

Dance Academy: the movie Royal Pains (season 4 & 7) Taboo (season 1) Brick Mansions Out of the Furnace Out of the Furnace is the definition of an underrated movie. A great purchase. Nobody brings it up when talking about Christian Bale or Willem Dafoe or Woody Harrelson. Such a great, satisfying movie. There's something of a throwback feel to it, like an early or maybe more mid 80s revenge flick, but with just excellent acting. The whole thing feels so authentically immersed in that not quite Appalachia but almost, southern Ohio/Pennsyltucky/W. Virginia methhead, blue collar, rural drug "kingpins" culture.

Of all the Disney afternoon cartoons TaleSpin was/is my favorite. Going to keep the Friday13th steel sealed for display with that wonderful classic cover art.

DVD Underdog: complete collector's edition
Blu-ray (1973) Sugar Cookies (1980) The Day Time Ended 40th anniversary special edition
From the age of 6 I watched reruns of Underdog early Sunday mornings. I still like Underdog but just like when I watched it as a child, I enjoy the Go-Go Gophers, Commander McBragg and Klondike Kat segments even more.
I first saw The Day Time Ended on MST3k: The Gauntlet. It is bad and crazy as can be and just a showcase for special fx (that really aren't all that special) but I still really like it. I like the actors and actresses, I like the design of the solar powered house out in the desert, the desert night sky and the wtf is gonna happen next hodgepidge of fx.
There is just something comforting about it to me. A good movie to watch for enjoyment and also a good one to fall asleep to.

Thought about buying it more than a couple times but haven't yet. Same with Island of Terror although I saw that one once on tv when I was little. Children of the Living Dead is so bad I quit watching it, changed the channel. I have the complete series of AYBS? and the latter series AYBSAgain? aka Grace & Favour. I love AYBS, discovered it in jr high on PBS. It's the funniest 'sitcom' ever made imo. AYBSA is great too, nice to revisit old friends again in a new setting and they have a new dynamic together. Plus Mr. Moleturd and Mavis haha. I've read the Movie reuses a bunch of old gags and one liners from the show. I still want to see though. I used to watch Haunting Hour when TheHub was still a channel. A million times better than Goosebumps in my opinion. I regret not getting vols. 1-4 for $10 each when I saw them at Meijer many many years ago. I have forgotten a lot of episodes but I remember some favorites, some more than others. The cursed ice cream truck. A shadow creature that attached itself to a girl's pilot father. A brother and sister that involved the little brother falling into an empty, fresh dug grave in the locall cemetery and being replaced with a ghost. A high school putting on a musical play of Hansel & Gretel and a very real witch or was it witches crash the packed auditorium. That last one, IIRC isn't on any volumes. Not all of the episodes made it to DVD. It was a FUN and very underrated series. Better writing than you'd expect and like I said ,miles better than the much more famous Goosebumps show.
