The Academy won't nominate a superhero movie for Best Picture even if it's featuring a paraplegic Muslim transsexual fighting the Nazis for a new record deal on behalf of all the orphaned vegans in Burkina Faso.

I'm a big fan of the MCU, but I still don't think it deserves one...it's mid-level MCU, there were other entries that were much better. Hell of just the three released this year, Black Panther was the weakest.

I'd rather see Mission Impossible Fallout get it. That would be hip and it's a far more deserving film.
But Black Panther will get nominated and further put a nail in the coffin of these award shows' relevancy.

its a lock just to show how hip the Academy is. Given the number of best picture slots, I agree that it's likely the academy will nominate "Black Panther" to at least try and appear relevant. Then they will likely turn around and give the award to some art film seen by only 400 people. |

They gave Get Out multiple nods including best actor, film, director etc. Good enough flick but let's face it how many horror films get that much love from the Oscars. It was a backlash from #oscarssowhite. I can see the same thing happening with Black Panther. The Oscars might as well be the MTV awards the way it's trying to be 'hip'.

God damn I hope not. This year in particular isn't that strong but still Black Panther is run of the mill MCU & is overrated as hell (there are waaaaay better films out there than that ) . Very glad South Park made fun of it this season haha.

Any movie that has a large army battle of indiscriminate cgi characters at the end should be disqualified. |
