I plan on boycotting Episode IX because I didn't like TLJ, I still don't think Rian deserves his own trilogy, and I'm not crazy about Kathleen Kennedy. She has a history of having problems with her directors, and I don't love any of the Star Wars movies made under her leadership. I thought Solo was all right, but that's setting the bar low. I'm glad I boycotted that film. It didn't need to be made.
I'm just not excited to be a Star Wars fan anymore.
What's your opinion?
EDIT: Just as with Solo, I plan on eventually watching IX via Netflix DVD. No rush.

I'm glad I boycotted that film. It didn't need to be made. I'm just not excited to be a Star Wars fan anymore. What's your opinion? I suppose you could say that I'm unofficially boycotting it. Why? I just can't find a reason to see it (as much as I might try): - The MarySue dynamic of Rey kills any adversarial tension in every opponent and conflict she faces. - Kylo's temper tantrums. Didn't we see this already with "whining Anakin"? Sorry prequel haters. It doesn't suddenly become a great character trait because Kylo is more demonstrative and has a goth/emo look. A third episode of this is not a reason for me to go see the movie. - What questions are left to be answered? All of the compelling plots and storylines have already been answered. Most of them dead ended in underwhelming, disappointing, or even absurd fashion. I suppose there is "what will happen with Reylo?". And will Kylo be redeemed? Will Rey turn to the Darkside? Will they live or die? (And is there some hidden history to either one of them that has yet to be revealed?)... I don't care enough to find out. I guess that's the bottom line. - Once you get past Rey and Kylo, are any of these new characters compelling? Do I care about their story arcs (if they actually have one)?... NO! Hux, Poe, Finn, Rose, BB8. They're mostly inept, cartoonish sidekick archetypes. They increasingly seem like misfits of what their character is supposed to be. And increasingly boring. - Is there any "Skywalker" left in the Skywalker saga? After Luke's Jake Skywalker act, he would have to have a Force ghost cameo of epic proportions to give gravitas back to the Skywalker element of the saga. I'm not holding my breath, as the expression goes. Does anyone think that Carrie Fisher deleted scenes (no disrespect to the late Ms. Fisher) can pull off putting the Skywalker back into this saga? Abrams doesn't give me confidence. And going by his track record, I have good reason to feel that way. I suppose that they might use Kylo in that way. But judging by the Force pansy he has been far too often, again, I'm not holding my breath. - And finally, the trilogy has had its share of production problems. The aura that Kathleen Kennedy, JJ Abrams, and Rian Johnson have tampered and sullied the mythos with their formulas can't be denied. This last episode of the trilogy will finally prove or disprove that once and for all. But personally it looks like they have. TFA and TLJ seem to be evidence of that. And if that's true, there's no going back. No changing it or fixing it now. So it's just one more reason that kills my potential enthusiasm for seeing it. At this point the only thing that would even flirt with me changing my mind is the greatest SW trailer of all time! And I'm 99% sure that that's not going to happen.

Isn’t the RJ trilogy canceled?
I’ll see it in the theater if I can. I don’t always make it, Even when I want to. With that said, I’m still a fan, and despite any issues, I still enjoy watching these films. Even the very hateable TLJ.

With that said, I’m still a fan, and despite any issues, I still enjoy watching these films. Even the very hateable TLJ. Per Wikipedia: In November 2017, Lucasfilm announced that Rian Johnson, the writer/director of The Last Jedi, would be working on a new trilogy. The films will reportedly differ from the Skywalker-focused films in favor of focusing on new characters. Johnson is confirmed to write and direct the first film.[55]
In February 2018, it was announced that David Benioff and D. B. Weiss would write and produce a series of Star Wars films that are not Skywalker-focused films, similar to (but separate from) Rian Johnson's upcoming installments in the franchise.[56]However there also was an announcement from Disney that they were going to slow down production of the episodic movies and "take each film one at a time". So that implies that the entire Rian Johnson trilogy is no longer guaranteed. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I liked the first two Disney "Star Wars" films, but I hated "The Last Jedi". I nicknamed it "The Laxative Jedi" because it shits all over everything I loved about "Star Wars". I still haven't seen "Solo". Lucasfilm's reaction to the TLJ backlash was even worse. Why they think insulting their customers is a viable business model is beyond me.

Who knows. After the first trailer I might change my mind. But for now...

I think "boycotting" is the wrong word, at least as far as I'm concerned.
TLJ non-literally killed Star Wars. I just don't believe the narrative being served up anymore. Didn't go, and won't ever, see Solo and I won't be watching IX either.
It's not like if IX comes out and is hailed as a masterpiece (hugely unlikely) that it will ever fix TLJ. I don't really view Star Wars as a "franchise series" that a decent new entry could get me back on board with. It's mythos was strongly tied in with my childhood and now that it's broken, it's broken.
But that's the great thing about Star Wars. Some numpties will read that and go what a sad OT loser or whatever but really it's an amazing thing. I doubt any other films have connected so strongly with any other generation of kids, so I'm thankful I got that...

Only if I don't have to pay for it.
So if I do see it it's going to be online or in TV at some point.

I'll see it for the sake of closure, but I do admit that they badly mishandled the sequel trilogy.

Sure. I enjoyed The Last Jedi and The Force Awakens, so I see no reason to avoid this one.
It probably helps that I'm a Star Trek guy, not a Star Wars guy. So in an odd way, not caring about the franchise helps me to enjoy the movies because I don't care if they're ruining it, I don't even care if they're especially good movies. They're generic sci-fi space opera. So long as they give me ships shooting at one another, and people running around shooting at one another, I'm good.
Oh, and I quite like Rey too. So there's that.

Yes, the storytelling has had plenty of flaws, but I still have enjoyed it.

Yes but not twice, now that the story has been ruined by RJ.
