I just want to know, are these movies racist to you? Rocky 1 through 5 I mean? Think about it, all the black boxers are defeated 90 % of the time by white guys (I would say 100% of the time but I don't remember what happens in Rocky III). They never had a black boxer 'beating' a white boxer. I guess that's to be expected though.
Second thing, could these movies be made today in the same way? Or would they have to put their little 'spin' on it. So to speak.

Well Paulie was racist in "Rocky III". He didn't want to hang out at that gym that Rocky went to work with Apollo since it had all those black boxers.

In III, Rocky beat Clubber Lang at the end, but that isn’t without mentioning Lang beating him in Fight 1, so...
Anyway, your analysis is pretty woeful.

Anything can appear racist if you look hard enough and interpret things in a warped manner. And having a racist character does not make a movie racist.

Apollo Creed was THE champion during the course of the first two Rocky movies. It's poor old Rocky who's the underdog. There's no evidence of racism anywhere in this series.

Paulie: [referring to African-Americans ] I don't like these people.
Rocky Balboa: You don't like em'? Well maybe they don't like you either Paulie.
Paulie: [in awe] What'd I ever do to them?
Rocky Balboa: [looks at Adrian] And they call ME "Punchy".
Paulie: [Arriving in Apollo's old L.A. gym filled with African-American boxers] We gotta leave. I've got a reputation.
Rocky Balboa: What do you mean reputation?
Paulie: You heard. I don't like these people.
Rocky Balboa: Maybe they don't like you either Paulie.

Also, you’re forgetting the most important thing for your argument: Apollo died in IV. But even then, I beg to differ.

How did I know this was a JoeTorrence thread just from the title? Because he usually takes a well-beloved product and a serious subject matter, adds those two and puts them in the title together.
