It appears they are just waiting for Segura to waive his no trade clause. J.P. Crawford and Carlos Santana going to Seattle and Segura and possibly another player going to Philly.
This moves allows Hoskins to move back to 1st base.

Swarzak, the reliever they got in the cano trade is being flipped to Philly in the deal.

Jayson stark saying that Swarzak is not part of deal.

they got rid of both Crawford (Dominic Brown v2.0) and Santana's horrible contract!
guess Rhys is moving back to first which opens up an outfield spot for................Harper
well done

I would say my concerns are this is his 5th team and he's 28.
but I guess this move is about moving that ridiculous Santana contract and jettisoning Crawford off who never panned out....
hmmmm. haven't seen any news on Kingery lately - they used him as a Swiss Army Knife last year - and Hernandez had a semi decent year at 2nd. go with a platoon of Segura/Kingery/Hernandez up the middle?

I doubt Segura will be platooning. Heβs an everyday player that hits .300. The talk is they want Machado for third base.

So - is it all coming true - Machado and Harper..................

I suspect that Hernandez will start the season as the starter and Kingery used in a utility role. If Kingery plays well enough, Hernandez will be traded at the deadline for more help. If the Phillies get Machado to play third, Franco will the next to go.

I'd love to have Hernandez as a utility guy coming off the bench - just like I would have wished Galvis (didn't he have a nice year in San Diego last year?) would have been kept as a 'utility' guy on the bench spotting a guy a days rest on a Sunday. But if you can get an arm for him at the deadline - and if Kingery turns the corner and you've got Machado at third and Segura a short - I get it. It's a shame Franco, Hernandez and the departed Galvis didn't amount to more here - but they weren't complete busts like Brown and Crawford - and both Brown and Crawford were #1 prospects if memory serves.

so...
I just used my 'google machine' and filtered on 'news' for the past 24 hours.
this is what i'm talking about folks.
Machado and Harper coming here.
don't think it makes sense? they've got unlimited pockets now. and if you're Montgomery and Klentak - this is your chance - to make this town a baseball town again for the first time since 2008-2011.
what these signings do? they open up the floodgates and state that you're a player again - others will want to come here an play here.
billboards on the jersey turnpike going down the shore with Harpers and Machados face on them?
i'm in - and CBP will be a giant party again for the first time since 2011 instead of a morgue.
DO IT!
