I vote for Licence To Kill (1989). It breaks from the usual 007 blueprint with Bond going all rogue for some revenge! Can I get a " Hells Yeah" up in here? It was my first Bond on the big screen as well, and it has that classy Gladys Knight theme song.

Errr. Hard one, Lebowskidoo 🦞 . For Your Eyes Only may be my favorite Moore Bond–at least, it’s tied with The Spy who Loved Me–and I really like the goofiness of Octopussy (that George MacDonald Fraser wrote the script probably helps). But I think I like the two Dalton entries better–his two were a throwback to Connery’s first two, which were more grounded and less “Bondian,” and I actually like that more. And I think I’ll join the majority and choose Licence to Kill, an intriguing flick that takes a lot from Fleming (the Leiter stuff from Live and Let Die, for example) and uses it in new and clever ways. I hope For Your Eyes Only and The Living Daylights get votes, though.

The only Bond movies I like from the 1980's are...
1)Licence to Kill (1989) - 7/10 (within my Top 188 movies) 2)The Living Daylights (1987) - 6/10 (a mild Thumbs Up)

The Living Daylights for me. Timothy Dalton is actually my favourite Bond. He's suave, looks the part, knows how to charm and yet comes across as genuinely dangerous when he needs to be. The movie marked the franchise's shift away from the OTT, often comedic approach of the Moore films (which I also enjoy by the way) towards a somewhat more grounded, action-thriller style.
I still say that A View To A Kill has the better soundtrack, however.

Same, it seems ahead of its time with the dark tone.

1. Tie - The Living Daylights and For Your Eyes Only 2. License to Kill 3. Never Say Never Again 4. Octopussy 5. A View to a Kill
Dalton was a great Bond. I wasn't a big fan when i was a kid. I missed Moore since that was the Bond I grew up with but as I got older I really enjoyed his take on the character. A View to a Kill has some good moments but even as a fan Moore should have retired with For Your Eyes Only or maybe Octopussy.
Seriously though, the only Bond film I absolutely cannot stand is the much later Die Another Day. Outside of that travesty I'm a Bond fan through and through.

for your eyes only followed by the living daylights measure up to acceptable, if not particularly memorable Bond entertainment.
octopussy is somewhat enjoyable for it's dumb extravagance.
licence to kill is thoroughly ordinary, as is Connery's lacklustre return in never say never again.
a view to a kill is wretched, from it's ghastly theme song, to Walken's dreary villainy.
