So which fiery lady trailer is better? Captain Marvel by far! Love the look of it and the costumes, especially the Skrulls. Definitely looking forward to those and glad they're embracing the comic look to them. The story looks interesting too. Dark Phoenix just looks boring. Everything about it just looks so uninspiring because it's trying to be this dark serious film.

Skaathar was there a second trailer of Dark Phoenix that was released? Otherwise you can’t compared Captain Marvel’s trailer to a currently nonexistent one. So which fiery lady trailer is better? Dark Phoenix was a dark and serious storyline. It literally has “dark” in the title. Fox didn’t want to do it the first time because of how dark the story was. So you’re problem with Dark Phoenix is that it’s embracing the comic tone?

I highly enjoyed the trailers for Dark Phoenix, Captain Marvel, and Aquaman and am looking forward to seeing all three of them equally.

Heh, didn't pay attention to that similarity. I've issues with CM but it's not a remake of an existing film and it'll likely be fine.

Calling Dark Phoenix a remake of X3 is like calling Deadpool a remake of Origins. When was the last time you watched that movie? Because Jean like Deadpool in Origins, was just a mute thug with little screentime. Or Venom is a remake of Spider-Man 3.

Dark Phoenix. But it depends what you are looking for. Observing the trailers in isolation, Captain Marvel looks like a generic superhero origin film with the usual questions voice over, fast pace action and CGI heavy finale and if your into that then this trailer hits the right notes. However I cannot believe anyone from the general audience would not look at Captain Marvel trailer and think, this looks like ''just another Marvel flick''. Bri Larson is narrating an lot of rhetorical/mysterious questions with little conviction (I will end the war?) accompanied with an infallible, wooden persona.
Dark Phoenix doesn't have the comparable visual money shots, for better or worse, but is much more focused on radiating the story and struggles of each character in a grounded fashion. Sophie Turner is seen in multiple moods with a stronger feel of how the story is going to pan out - from Jeans childhood mistake repeating itself in adulthood with grave consequence. And there is still enough mystery there with Jessica Chastain's character.
As Kinberg says, Dark Phoenix is a superhero drama and the trailer underlines that. Captain Marvel is Superhero action. Given someones personal taste, its easy to guess which one would appeal to them the most.
And yes the Dark Phoenix trailer may feel ''more of the same'' from the other Xmen films in Fox, but you would be hypocritical to not also say that Captain Marvel feels the same too.

I feel obligated to point out Thor: The Dark World also had the word dark in the title.

Would you guys hate me if I said that both trailers were meh to me? That's why I thought it would be fun to compare them. Better competition.

Dark Phoenix had one of the most uninteresting trailers for a superhero movie that I've seen in many years.

I just watched that Dark Phoenix trailer... wth? Looks like Kinberg won't let go of Jean being some inherently evil Tom Riddlesque story? I know he puts the phoenix force into this one as an influence at least, but Grey was never some tetering towards evil thing under the control of Xavier to keep her from losing it in the comics was she? Was there some retcon in the comics?
Or is this just Kinberg's ego? I'm not that up on the comics. I remember the original storyline, where I thought a relatively virtuous Grey was a child that telepathically linked with a dying friend and went into a coma who was helped out of it by Xavier and he helped her develop her powers. Doesn't this one look like she tries to kill her parents and she is wrestling with her true self only to have Phoenix tilt her over the edge when Xavier can no longer control her?
This makes the character weak and just a mutant power pawn for either Xavier or the Force to control by influence, once again, and never anything else. That wasn't, at least to me, this character's identity. It's the same thing that killed X3 and it will kill this one too if that's the case.

Tied. Both are well made but have a "been there, done that" feel to them.
Ironically, both movies have increased political relevance as they feature a female in the lead for the first time for their franchie.

The X-Men trailers always seduce me. Unimpressed though I've been with their track record, I can't not fall for their trailers. Every time I think it'll be that X-Men movie that finally blows it all out of the water.
Dark Phoenix probably has the better trailer but I have higher expectations of Captain Marvel.
