I'm not ducking anything. Who gets to decide that Winston Churchill is a hero, but, Adolf Hitler is a villain? The government does, because they are allowed to make that distinction. They're not allowed to do the same with religion. Sorry, conclusion does not follow from the premise. Assuming there were a god, the fact that he/she/it is the "supreme creator" does not mean that people belong to god or that god has a right to kill people. And you demonstrate one of the evils of christianity - the fact that it can convince otherwise good and decent people that slavery and murder is acceptable. You can be a slave if you want to, but I am not. I belong to nobody but myself, and I will not accept the evil of slavery or murder from anybody. And since christianity is evil, according to you we can therefore disallow christianity from the public square.

And since christianity is evil, according to you we can therefore disallow christianity from the public square. It might serve to begin with those things on which all parties agree. It does appear and we all likely agree there are many and varied possibilities. It does appear and we all likely agree some possibilities are not compatible. That is, opposite things cannot be true at the same time and place. It follows then that some choices are necessary. So here we are with the problem of picking winners and losers and who or what gets to do that. clusium seems to believe that some god can pick winners and losers as the owner/master of all creation, while @graham seems to believe, if I read it correctly, that government rather than religion should pick winners and losers because government is less likely to support murder or slavery. My own observations indicate that government does kill and coerce quite much, in fact that is essentially what government does. This brings us to the interesting question why are the choices made by government any better than other choices? Is ours a government of laws or men? Which men? Which laws? Does "democracy" mean that losers get to pick winners and losers? What prevents the majority from making choices that will not produce the results that majority hopes? What, if any, check on the power of government to kill and coerce might there be?

This news seems pleasing to you. Yet you whine about the 10 commandments being displayed on public property/schools. Yet you wonder why I call you an anti-christ? He's the anti-christ? I have observed that certain Protestants (or those who are closer to Protestant faith and call themselves non-denominational Christians) have knack of coming up with their own definitions of traditional terms in the name of doing the right thing by interpreting the scripture on their own rather than relying on any central authority or historical tradition. While the Protestant faith may have its merits over traditional orthodoxy and Catholicism, it certainly makes certain people extremely imaginative and leads them to talk in a manner so exaggerated that they appear comical. If you see Cody's wording, he used "an antichrist" instead of "the antichrist". He has probably invented little antichrists millions of them whose traits are slightly different from the traits of the antichrist. This isn't new on this board. We had members like Jairu who made prediction that 1/3rd of the world will vanish in March 2016.
And we had many other such members who came up with extremely comical interpretations of the Bible.

Actually, the Catholic Church condemns the sexual sin as a **HORRIBLE EVIL!!** The Catechism of the Catholic Church, # 2356: Rape is the forcible violation of the sexual intimacy of another person. It does injury to justice and charity. Rape deeply wounds the respect, freedom, and physical and moral integrity to which every person has a right. It causes grave damage that can mark the victim for life. It is always an intrinsically evil act. GRAVER STILL IS THE RAPE OF CHILDREN COMMITTED BY PARENTS (INCEST) OR THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EDUCATION OF THE CHILDREN ENTRUSTED TO THEM. (My emphasis.) More importantly than the Catechism of the Catholic Church, are the Very Words Of Christ Himself, regarding those that abuse children: St. Matthew chapter 18, verse 6: "If anyone causes any one of these that believe in Me to stumble, it is better that he has a large millstone tied around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea." So, you still support this hypocrisy of your Church? They say this shit and DO the opposite, endemically and then excuse it and/or gloss over the worst offences. No, we Catholics do not support the hypocrisy of the Church. We want the Church to live up to her Teachings.

Why do you keep ducking the question? "Anyone" cannot make a decision. Who gets to make the decision, clusium? Which specific person or persons in government gets to choose which religions are the good ones and which are the evil ones? I mean, what if, like me, this person thinks that the god of the bible is a fantastically evil being/spirit? Not a wholly unreasonable conclusion, what with all the countless millions of people he murders himself, or orders others to murder. Many of them children. Should my view of that mean that the biblical god can't get the endorsement from government? Or do I not get to have a say? Why not? And what about the satanists who disagree that satan is the evil one? What if one thinks that satan is the good guy and the biblical god is the evil one? Does one get a say in the government's decision then? It seems like all this boils down to is that the government can endorse the religions YOU agree with. And not the ones you don't. I'm not ducking anything. Who gets to decide that Winston Churchill is a hero, but, Adolf Hitler is a villain? The individual, and collection thereof So, when god took all the lives in Las Vegas last year it wasn't murder?

That was a massacre caused by a psychopath. It was God, Who Instituted the Commandment, ' Thou Shalt Not Kill.'

Are you referring to when the shooting at that concert? That was a massacre caused by a psychopath. I agree, god's a frikkin' psychopath John 1:3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
Isaiah 46:10 I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come.
Hebrews 4:13 Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
Romans 11:36 For from him and through him and for him are all things.
Psalm 139:4 Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.
Psalm 147:5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you
Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Ephesians 1:11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will
Psalm 33:11 The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand
Proverbs 16:9 The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.
Job 42:2 “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you;
Psalm 138:8 The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me;
Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.
Job 5:12 He thwarts the plans of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success.
Psalm 33:10 The Lord foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
Psalm 94:11 The Lord knows all human plans; he knows that they are futile.
