It's true... from a certain point of view.

I respect your opinion, but I don't agree. IMO, "The Phantom Menace" is the weakest of the prequel trilogy and "Revenge of the Sith" is the best.

no, just no to that old discussion. TPM has it's merits, mostly in terms of art design, music, world building and as set up of conflicts.
But as a stand alone (not act 1) it is clearly the weakest constructed prequel. Just consider the de facto 4-act structure of the screenplay with a long, unrelated middle piece (Tatooine/Anakin) that has nothing to do with the main story.
Clones and Sith are vastly superior.

I just like sand I guess. - Screenplay/plot fluidity - Empire growing out of Republic - Sleeping Armies - Atmosphere (from the very first shot) - Tension - Film noir/mystery elements - Art design - Action - Padme on top of things - Jango Fett etc It was actually my favorite for a long time; I watched it 4 times in theaters (never did that again). EpII (together with TPM and LotR 1) was my very first DVD and I watched it ad nauseam.

Episode II is a movie that I sometimes mentally underrate, but whenever I watch it, I love it, especially the third act. Incidentally, I also saw it four times in theaters. ETA: including once on a legit, full-sized IMAX screen. It was fucking awesome!

It was fucking awesome! the third act is just a big continued boom: escalating gradually and fluidly from the old-fashioned factory-infiltration sequence to the arena execution to the arena Jedi-battle to the full-fledged clone war breaking out. Compare that to TPM's messy 4 battle scenario, with Padme chasing the Viceroy, while the Jedi fight Maul, while The Gungans do a field battle, while Anakin is crashing in the orbit battle...

TPM has the most Jar Jar and least Palpatine.
RotS has the least Jar Jar and most Palpatine.
I rest my case.
