1-0 is a fair reflection of the game, so far. Liverpool's midfield seems to be in "headless chicken" mode and M, F and S are being starved of ammunition. Also Pep's back 4 are adept at denying space to the runners, forcing Virgil and pals to go backwards to the keeper, finding the City lineup very difficult to penetrate. The one move that has lived up to expectations, saw Mane hit the post after a brilliant piece of quickfire interchanging between Salah and Firmino. Other than that 'Pool have looked pretty toothless.

2-1 City win. The game never really lived up to the hype and some players disappointed. David Silva was awful as was Wijnaldum. For some reason, Klopp moved him to wide left in the second half. Be better to take him off. Virgil was shaky, Salah never got enough of the right kind of ball and anyway, Laporte had him under control. Fernandinho was my MoM
