Now that Sony seems to have finally found success independent from Marvel, it seems like they might not have much of a need to continue sharing Spider-Man with them. This obviously isn’t to say that they’ll just end their deal with them, but what if they do end it after 2019? What would be the opinion of everyone here?

Didn't Sony make 100% of the profit from Homecoming? What would be the point ending the deal?

The Backlash would be huge. Both Sony and Marvel was relieved that the audiences accepted and liked a 3rd reboot in 15 years. If sony were to pull spidey out of the MCU they would have to reboot a 4th time. The movie, marketing, trailers, etc would have to be damn near perfect for the general public to accept a 4th reboot inside 20 years.

I sure hope so sony deserves spiderman Deserves is a bit much. They gave us the 2 best Spiderman movies but they gave us 3 crappy ones too. And the campiest most hated Spiderman movie yet with Spiderman 3.

Pretty sure they only found success after the MCU helped put them back on the map. If they leave the MCU I wouldn't be surprised if their newfound success suddenly drops.

I sure hope so sony deserves spiderman How many times must you be told that Spider-Man NEVER LEFT Sony? They can do whatever it is that they want to with the character and whoever else was part of their contractual agreement from almost two decades ago, what Sony cannot do is borrow characters or reference events from Marvel Studios movies without their approval. Secondly, Sony would love it if Marvel and Disney were to accept and present Venom and any other Spider-Man related product that they have on the market or in the works as legitimately part of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, they *want * Tom Holland to appear in one of their own movies to cement the suggestion that they are all connected and they can have him appear at any time because it is in his contract.

Mcu gave us the worst spiderman for that alone he belongs in and only in the sonyverse Sony *wants* their "sonyverse" to exist WITHIN the MCU. The financial success of Venom and Tom Holland's contract gives them leverage to extend their contract with Marvel and Disney IF they accept and promote their own movies as proper MCU content. And no, the MCU's version of the character is definitely not the worst or anywhere within that ballpark range.

Mcu gave us the worst spiderman for that alone he belongs in and only in the sonyverse Spiderman 3 is an abortion of cinema. It's narrative has more plot points than BvS shoved in. It made Eddie Brock a meallie nerd. It made Venom a screeching pussy that spoke in melodrama. " I like being bad, it makes me happy" I can take that in Army of Darkness from the Princess. "I maybe bad but I feel good." Not from fucking Venom. It gave us not 1 but 2 dance numbers. Dance numbers that wasn't even a distraction. 2 dance numbers for the hell of it. Instead of Sandman being a badass he was a mopey idiot. They retconned the great scene of Uncle Ben retroactively ruining it. They used amnesia like a Soap Opera. And not amnesia that was meant to be done to a character at least. It was a knock to the fucking head. Edit: And made MJ a whining coward.

If you think SMHC is worse than SM3 then there's something seriously wrong with your taste in movies. It is worst its campy, only good thing was keaton But the Raimi movies *were* campy, and so is Venom - a movie you love and is far more campier than Homecoming and any other MCU movie.

But I will say this - Never was there a scene in Homecoming where somebody acts like a psycho in a restaurant, proclaims a steak to be "not alive" and jumps into a tank full of live lobsters and bites each of their heads off.

I always thought you protested to much on Starlord's Dance off. You must've loved it if you think Spiderman 3 isn't the worst spiderman.

We can do this pretty much all night, and I wager whatever it is you find from Homecoming that can be described as immature or campy won't compare to the buffoonery of which was displayed in that restaurant scene in Venom
