I just have to ask, because even though neither of these things bother me, and I don't think this movie is racist obviously. I know that some people that watch it for the first time now probably think it's racist.

No. It's very meager compared to its use in other films like Tarantino's work or movies that star rappers.

The n only bothers me when people spell the Shining as 'the shinning'.

“Serious” question or “incredibly fucking stupid” question?

“Serious” question or “incredibly fucking stupid” question? Consider the OP and draw your own conclusions.

LOL, I actually felt bad for Scatman Crothers character in "THE SHINING".
He travels all the way from Miami to Denver, and then from Denver to the Hotel, and not even 10 Minutes after he arrives, Jack Nicholson puts an axe into his chest!

No since it's one of the villains that says it.

N word? You mean when Grady refers to Halloran as a "No-good cook"? That's how it appears in an edited version.

Any time I hear someone say the N word, I want to punch them as hard as I can.

It was chuckle-worthy (I’m not racist calm down), but it didn’t bother me. Obviously it’s shocking when it’s used but with good reason.

What's the point of trying to troll SJWs on a predominantly right-leaning forum? You just confuse me, Joe. Not only does no one take the bait in these threads, there aren't any fish in the first place.

I know that some people that watch it for the first time now probably think it's racist. I don't remember the N word in that movie. I'm more disturbed about it in the Tarantino films and find QT racist for his over usage of it in his movies. What bothered me about Crother's death was that he took all that time and effort to return there only to get killed like right away. Man, he went back there for nothing. Poor guy.

Probably 95% of all good films made pre-2013 would be considered "problematic" and worthy of being banned by the present-day tolerance Taliban.

No more than it bothers me in "Huckleberry Finn."
It's a despicable word. Both stories use the word to frame a characters' prejudice, ignorance (or in "The Shining"), an evilness. Nothing wrong with a word. All about how it is used. In "The Shining", I found it unsettling, but it wasn't surprising to me to hear it come out of that particular character's mouth.
I hate the word, but I think "The Shining" used it effectively.

This movie? Not really... We all know that Grady was a "villain", and didn't want Halloran to get involved in stopping the caretakers' plans to Kill everyone... I agree with kingkoopa I don't see why anyone would be consider this to be racist at all... Jack had to kill someone... No matter what their skin color was... Black, White, Red... (Purple... LOL!) Based on the story, it made sense that Jack would end up killing "Halloran"... He posed the greatest threat to him... The fact that Scatman Crothers was, himself, black, is beside the point, and MOOT... I don't see how anything in this movie could be considered "racist"... and I don't think anyone involved in making the movie were trying to send out that message to the audience... I believe if anyone ends up believing that this movie is "racist", then it's that person's problem, and not the movie's...
