From IGN.com
I'll hazard a guess this'll be an alternate version of John Winchester, now that we have alternate versions of Bobby & Charlie.

From IGN.com I'll hazard a guess this'll be an alternate version of John Winchester, now that we have alternate versions of Bobby & Charlie. The AU version died and since Mary refused the deal with Azazel. Dean, Sam, and Adam were never born. Dabb or someone did say time travel will be involved and we'll see a different version of Cass.

I'm well aware the version of John Winchester from the reality the boys visited and brought people back from had died, but there is more than one alternate reality, and I'm thinking they'll visit or get a visit from another.

Well, I enjoyed the episode. It's actually the most enjoyable episode in a long time, for me. All I've wanted since Season 2's 'What Is and What Should Never Be' is an episode with all four Winchesters reunited and just spending time as a family - and this episode delivered that. There was some heavy emotional stuff going on in the episode, but I liked that it had a few 'lighter' moments too - this being a primary example... So often watching this show feels more like a 'chore' than something I enjoy, but I stick with the series because I've watched it right from the start and occasionally they have a stand-out episode. This was one of those. It actually shows how much I enjoyed the episode when I was dreading that it was nearly over and the boys + Mary had spent so little time with John. Other times I feel like "When is this episode going to be over??", but with this one I could've watched a whole episode of the four Winchesters catching John up on everything that had happened. I'm actually a bit annoyed that so much of the episode's beginning was devoted to other stuff like the kids, Zachariah and 'Evil' Castiel, etc - all of that I found to be slightly irritating as it took screentime away from what I actually cared about, which was the Winchester family spending time together. Sadly, we got so little of that. Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Samantha Smith and Jeffrey Dean Morgan really sold all the emotions that were in play during their scenes together, I thought. Thanks, show, for giving us this as your 300th episode. You did good.

It was awesome to see John again regardless of which reality he was from. All that confesses the hell out of me!

This ep got me thinking that for the eventual finale of the show I'd want John resurrected and the four Winchesters to become a fighting family.
