...I had a Rainbow Trout with a pot of winter vegetables. It was an early dinner as I had missed out on lunch. I'm very much a hit-or-miss cook but tonight I got the timing spot on. To wash this feast down, I had a bottle of Vinedos Barrihuela Rioja Blanca and also some Rhubarb yogurt for afters. It was so good that if I was agile enough, I would reach behind and kiss my own arse.

I've got a chicken caesar salad lined up for later, had a three course lunch with a friend and am still stuffed. Loving the 'pot of winter vegetables' line, though... Mind if I use it on a menu?

Winter vegetables, as sold by Tesco.
CARROT CAULIFLOWER BROCCOLI
Packet mentions microwave is OK but I use a hob. Use a pot of water with salt to taste, bring to boil, add the vegetables and when boiling is resumed cover and allow to simmer on half-heat for 5-10 minutes. Less than that will leave then hard. Too long on the hob will make them soggy. Be careful with the salt.

@fjh you don't like sweet gravy in just meals or simply dislike sweets in general? Because IZZY mentioned carrots and I cannot stop from recommending you Carrot Halwa. Try this thing:

One of my favorite meals is Beef Bourguignon at my local Cafe Rouge. There they slice the carrots lengthwise rather than chop them up. That way you get to properly, IMHO, enjoy this vegetable.

Gonna get some green chillies this morning and knock up a delicious veg balti this eveningπ
Heat yer vegetable oil of choice.
Flash fry yer onion, garlic, ginger, and green chillies (as hot as you like it).
Stir fry in yer veggies of choice.
Add yer balti spices (powder or paste... but don't use shop bought sauces, because they're shite).
Stir in tinned tomatoes, bit of vinegar, some cornflour if you like a thicker ruby, and eat, with plain basmati or pilau rice.
NB. always green chillies in a balti, not red.

D'ya not find that the spices can be a bit acrid if you throw them in after the veg? I usually throw my spices in after my onions, ginger, garlic, chillies phase, let them almost stick to the bottom of the pot. Then a drop of water in it and the flavour/odour jumps to life.
