Dana Andrews.
Dana Winter.
Dana Elcar.
Dana Delaney.
Leslie Howard.
Leslie Caron.
Which thespian is male, and which female -- without seeing a picture of them?
I have no problem with the descriptive "actress" being used.

I have no problem with the descriptive term "actress" being used either, because I am not a delusional snowflake...

Most of the times these requests are made as sarcasm on imaginary people who supposedly want such things. I have very rarely seen a person actually making such requests. Of course, there are such people but they are very rare and probably make those requests to seek attention. People making fun of those are a lot more visible. In a way, it gives them the happiness of not being a snowflake or whatever.

I have no problem with the descriptive "actress" being used. You FORGOT Leslie Nielsen.

You FORGOT Leslie Nielsen. As long as you don't call him Shirley.

There is nothing offensive about being a woman. I couldn't care less if actress stays and I am not offended.

I personally prefer the term actress. It is like the difference between Prince and Princess.

You are probably trolling, but just in case you are being serious: there is absolutely nothing offensive or sexist about the word "actress".

You are probably trolling, but just in case you are being serious: there is absolutely nothing offensive or sexist about the word "actress". It's offensive to act as if a word that denotes a female is sexist and offensive (as if there is something degrading about being a female).

You are probably trolling, but just in case you are being serious: there is absolutely nothing offensive or sexist about the word "actress".
The justification goes:
You wouldn't call a female doctor a doctress.
You wouldn't call a female laywer a layweress.
You wouldn't call a female teacher a teacheress.
Therefore you shouldn't call a female actor a actress.
Because it implies that the teacher, doctor, lawyer have different qualities if they are genderized with the male version being more senior.

You wouldn't call a female doctor a doctress because the word "doctress" doesn't exist in the English language.
You wouldn't call a female lawyer a lawyeress because the word "lawyeress" doesn't exist in the English language.
You wouldn't call a female teacher a teacheress because the word "teacheress" doesn't exist in the English language.
The word "actress" on the other hand has existed for a long time and there is absolutely no reason to stop using it.
Furthermore, male and female doctors, lawyers and teachers perform exactly the same functions, whereas actors and actresses perform slightly different ones: actors play male roles and actresses play female roles. Most roles in movies, TV or theatre are written specifically for one gender or the other, so it is useful to be able to make the distinction between males who act and females who act.

Better than calling male actor or female actor. For animals IMDb doesn't use animal actor. Instead, it's just actor for a male animal and just actress for a female animal. Beasley the DogLassie
