I have gotten the Message and I think that bumping 2, 3, or 4 (at the most) of my Posts is actually a good idea. I will not Hijack an entire page anymore. That's nice of you. Even though I don't think you should have to restrict yourself in such a way. People can click on page 2, and page 3, and page 4. It's kind of ridiculous that people can't do that, imo. People aren't going to take the time to click on Page 2, Page 3, etc. It's like saying you can save money on batteries by not using the remote control and instead get up off your couch and manually change the TV channel. But how many people are going to get up off their couch and manually change the TV channel? |

If a hypothetical new user comes on the board and posts something they think is interesting and it's immediately tossed to the bottom of the page by a barrage of anthony's bumps of his own threads, it buries new, potentially interesting conversations and they will not stick around. Furthermore, people don't tend to search around for information or engage in discourse if their first impression is "This is just a board dedicated to polls made by one person." |

What will definitely help Film General grow is if more people start topics. Agreed and I know that I have Gone WAY OVERBOARD with all of the Post-Bumping that I do and at the Same Time whenever I try to start New Topics that are really just Absolutely Boring, Completely Ridiculous, Pointless, Meaningless, Stupid, and Foolish, or all of the above. I don't have an issue with your topics. I really enjoy your "list favorite movies for these actors/actresses" threads (as long as it's under 10 actors per thread). Just cut back on all the bumping, and you're fine.  |

This is absurd. It is a complete waste of time trying to give anthonyrocks advice or pointers about future posts as though he'll actually heed them. This is hardly the first time he's promised to dial it down. Nor the second. Two months from now nothing will have changed and some other schmo will make a thread complaining about all those bumps and threads and polls and "anyone else?"s.

It's mostly because you can tell he doesn't do it to be malicious or intentionally obnoxious. I think he's just trying to spark conversation... but he's going way, way, way overboard .I do hope he's gotten the message and cools it a bit. I think self-bumping 2 or 3 of his threads is fine. It's just when it gets up into the 9th, 10th, 11th self-bump where it inundates the board and becomes a huge problem. It's Film General-- not the anthonyrocks show. But when nobody has responded for weeks, obviously nobody is interested in continuing that conversation so the thread should just die. It's the constant bumping of old threads that nobody is interested in anymore and that clogs up the 1st page that gets annoying. And sure, we can all click to go to Page 2. But seriously, how many people are actually going to take the time to got to Page 2, Page 3, etc.? Dude, are you seriously going to criticize someone for trolling??  |

Oh No, I respectfully disagree. I am 101 percent certain that there are others with more posts than me. Just looked through all 43 pages of members- Youâre the Top. (Cue Salzmank and Cole Porter) Apologies if someone already pointed this out later in the thread (edit: ya someone did) but if you click on 'members' at the top then click on 'posts' it will list all users in order from most to least. Only one page necessary to see anthony has a commanding lead over abbey. |
