Is this evening... This year, the shortlist isn't being released until the programme and voting begins at 7pm GMT, but here's the current best odds being offered... Anyone take yer fancy? Some sources are tipping Dina Asher-Smith, not bad at 16/1๐ค Hard to see past Harry Kane this year though? Personally, I thought Harry Maguire was a better personality from the World Cup. www.oddschecker.com/awards/sports-personality-of-the-year/winner

Ah come on now... It's a Christmas tradition. As a sports fan, I'll bet you have at least a passing interest in it๐คจ

Won't know who makes the shortlist until 7pm. If Maguire makes the finalists, he has a good chance of picking up my vote. Fury... feck off๐

I'm off for a wander round William Hills before the first KO of the day in a minute... Gonna ask what they'll offer each way on her.

I would vote for Fury. He embodies the 'personality' aspect more than the rest of the sportsmen and women, and coupled with his achievement of getting back into the ring and unofficially beating Wilder, would make for a worthy winner.
Even as a Spurs fan, I'm not having Kane winning it, or anyone relating to the World Cup for England.

I'll no be voting for somebody who's diseased brain equates gay people with kiddie fiddlers, that's not a personality I care for. Agree entirely on Kane.

I don't agree with his views on that or his religious beliefs. I think more is made of it than is necessary due to the crazy PC fuelled society we live in today. While he might disagree with both things I'm not sure he'd class both as equally horrible. I mean I've heard him say he has no problem with gay people before. I've not heard him say he has no problem with paedophiles before. Anyway, I find him entertaining, and can see that he isn't a bad person at heart from other examples of him talking. He has my respect for what he's managed to do this year.

BUT looking at the slip now, he didn't actually write ยฃ5 on the slip, he's just rung it through and the stake on the electronic output down the side is down as 25.00!!
