There's been a lot of condemnation toward Joe Mixon for a 2014 incident where he punched a blonde girl in the face. I expected to affect his draft status, but it's getting pretty ridiculous. I read today that the Patriots won't even consider drafting the guy in any round (because the Patriots are so honorable, right? ). I really don't think this is fair. Let's remember, the blonde idiot actually attacked Mixon first. Mixon probably shouldn't have destroyed the bitch (he was clearly much bigger and stronger than the blonde bimbo), but he was well within his rights to defend himself. That shouldn't make the guy undraftable, in my opinion.

Joe Mixon will be drafted ... whether it is 1st or 251st does not matter (except for his bank account).
People get 2nd chances ... he will get his. Good luck to him.

First off, you refer to the Patriots honor, when the Dolphins have also openly said they won't draft him either. Where is your disdain for them? Other teams have openly said he's on their boards so what's the problem? Or is this just a cutesy, roundabout way for you to get a dig in at the Patriots? Secondly, can't really refer to "honor" and then refer to her simply as a bitch. Kinda flies in the face of the honorable stance you're trying to achieve. Third, no, Mixon probably shouldn't have destroyed her. In fact, there is a fine line between defending yourself against someone half your size and what Mixon actually did. She pushed him and smacked him, so he turns around and completely levels her? Yeah, that's smart thinking, especially when he clearly was in no danger whatsoever. It doesn't take an exorbitant amount of intellect to simply not do that. Your post would have been better served to skewer NFL team's double standards because when there is no video, teams will try to sweep these things under the rug every chance they get. Of course, now that there is video, teams will do everything they can to distance themselves. That's the real problem here. Now you may think this shouldn't make him undraftable, and I don't disagree with that, however, if you are destined to play in the pros, you HAVE to be smarter than this. When a situation like this arises, when a stupid blonde girl who is half your size starts talking shit to you, you walk the fuck away. Like an adult. Even being in this situation in the first place is indicative of a lack of maturity and intelligence.

The Dolphins are being ridiculous too, if they won't draft him. As for calling her a bitch, a bimbo, and an idiot, what insult would be acceptable to you? I don't really care about a specific insult, so long as I get the point across that I think this woman is vile. I agree with the rest of your post, mostly, except that if some stranger tries to attack you, you might not react in such a calm way. That's all.

Having been faced with those situations in the past, I can safely say that not only would I react in a more mature way, but I actually HAVE reacted in a calmer and more mature way. When someone half your size harmlessly pushes and slaps you, punching her so hard that you break her jaw is not "defending yourself" under any state's case law (not even Texas) or criminal statutes that I've studied (and yes, my law degree trumps anyone's google search). It's assault. The Dolphins and Patriots are not being ridiculous if they want to try to distance themselves from someone that they perceive as immature or what have you. You are free to disagree with that but it's pretty obvious that this situation could have easily been avoided if Mixon were just a little bit smarter. Situational awareness is of paramount importance for these kids, right or wrong.

He doesn't seem like a good draft... Yup, thanks Susie, I actually forgot to even mention this in my first post above. This is not what a smart, down-to-earth person does, I don't care how old they are. People pissed me off all the time when I was a teenager and somehow, magically, I never did anything like this.

As a Pats fan, my only issue with this stance is its hypocrisy. While I agree assaulting a woman makes you a creep (and a coward), is it somehow worse than anything Aaron Hernandez did in college (assault, likely attempted murder)? They knew he was dangerous but still took the risk. They picked up Michael Floyd this past season after he was arrested for being so drunk that he fell asleep at the wheel. Hell, they signed Donte Stallworth after he literally killed a guy while driving drunk. All that stuff is morally acceptable?
So again, while I appreciate the stance they're taking here, I just don't understand why they draw the line at assaulting a woman as opposed to killing someone (or even trying to in the case of Hernandez while he was still in college!).
