It's official.
They aren't making money back on this one.
It's a shame.. It looks innovative and stylish.... Granted, it kinda reminds me of the opening feature of Monty Python's The Meaning Of Life.
I wasn't planning on seeing it in the theaters.. but, I was looking forward to when it's on HBO.

Thats a shame, but it was predictable. I saw it on friday and i really liked it. But despite everything that people say about wanting to see new movie, its not true. Everytime a movie look different, it bomb at the box office. The only thing moviegoers want to see is the same exact thing over and over again.

Saw that one coming. “From the creators of Lord of the Rings” my ass. During the end credits someone in the theater where i saw it actually said "wait, this was not directed by Peter Jackson?". The whole marketting make it sounds like it was his movie.

Was it a bigger flop than Robin Hood? I heard that one did pretty bad.

Just from the trailer, I remember thinking it had flop written all over it.

To the best of my knowledge, the justification for this movie's budget is out weighted by the lack of interest in the the story. Judging by the best selling books list, which I can't recall seeing the source material being on.

Most people don't watch trailers, so they see a movie called "Mortal Engines" listed at the cinema and they have no idea what it is. I only watched the trailer because some people said it was one of their most anticipated of the year. It just looked like another silly post apocalyptic movie to me, just with cool giant moving cities.

I'm sure there are many people who didn't even check for sure. Like the other reply said, the person in the cinema finding out only after the movie was over. It was a desperate and pathetic attempt to mislead people.
