When I was young I thought that when I get older I will have all the time in the world, sitting by a sparkling fireside reading Dickens, Hugo and other great writers, but things haven't turned out that way yet. Almost "ditto" but I can no longer include your still hopeful "yet". Despite changing my spectacles prescription more often than I change my underpants, my eyes no longer permit sustained reading. And since this present year began, I am having to severely ration my online and DVD usage as well. I have read all Dickens, all Hardy, all major Dostoevsky, but have hardly scratched the surface of the great French novelists. It would be very sad, but I have sadder things in my life to put it into perspective. That is all I have to say for now. Christmas is coming up, so it is time to change my underpants in case I have a visitor.

Cool Hand Luke (1967) The Dirty Dozen (1967) Planet of the Apes (1968) - Actually love the ending in the novel anyway so to see it trumped in the film by the genius of Serling was quite something. Straw Dogs (1971) (The Siege of Trencher's Farm) The Getaway (1972) Papillon (1973) Jaws (1975) One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) The Dead Zone (1983) Manhunter (1986) (Red Dragon) Die Hard (1988) (Nothing Lasts Forever) The Green Mile (1999) It (2017)
