I liked Dillon in The Flamingo Kid, which was enhanced by the ever steady supporting role by Hector Elzinodo. But in general I like Cusak...like him in Must Love Dogs opposite Diane Lane and a few other good actors, and Say Anything enhanced by the supporting role by John Mahoney. It's not that I don't like Dillon, I just haven't watched many of the movies he's been in.

Matt Dillon
top 5.. drugstore cowboy (1989) over the edge (1979) rumble fish (1983) the flamingo kid (1984) sunlight jr. (2013) - this more recent white trash slice-of-lifer with Naomi Watts is a cut above average, with good realistic performances from both actors.
Matt Dillon was an actor with some style and presence, who never really went on to big things. John Cusack was a likeable teen that grew up to play the same bland, mild mannered dude in virtually every one of his movies. (some good movies though)

From 1979 to 1989, Dillon.
From 1989 to present, John Cusack.

Dillon has more presence. As noted, Cusack can be bland.
I was going to note Pushing Tin as a fave, but everyone else makes that movie great. 🤷♂️

Dillon--one of my teenage crushes, after all.
Cusack was (and is) always a little dweebie.
