Bought curtains but not working, how do I get it turned off or removed or the very least get satisfaction with vandalism.
a) Go down to their office with picture evidence and tell them to turn it off as there is already a light beside it. b) Get a blow torch and take off the cover and fry wires. c) Buy a small bag of cement, smuggle it into their office toilets and empty it down the toilet causing a plumbing headache.
What would you choose?

try A) and if that doesnt work then get Light Blocking adhesive privacy filter in your window or its part. I have one for the same reason - obnoxious light outside - and it works great.

File a private nuisance suit...
"A private nuisance is an interference with a person's enjoyment and use of his land. The law recognizes that landowners, or those in rightful possession of land, have the right to the unimpaired condition of the property and to reasonable comfort and convenience in its occupation."
I like the blowtorch idea. Or you could get a high powered BB gun and shoot the light out. Maybe even a .22 using CB caps (very low noise and velocity).

Do the least passive aggressive or destructive thing possible. Otherwise you might create other problems for yourself. A well-written and reasoned complaint to whomever ought to do the trick.
Failing that, buy a blackout curtain from Walmart.

I put a pillow over my head to block out ambient light. It's soft and cozy.

What would you choose? They make "black out" curtains, shades and blinds that will not let any light in. The light outside is a good deterrent for crime.

A well aimed pellet gun will take care of the problem.

Get a mirror the exact size of your window and install it inside your window frame, with the mirror side facing outward. That way the light will shine right back at it. Give it a taste of it's own medicine.

Better curtains, a blind and if necessary, an external shutter of some description. In the room where I sleep, I have heavy dark curtains, heavy net curtains, black-out curtains plus an external shutter. Midday or midnight, it makes no difference...

Simple, get better quality curtains. Most come with a % blackout chart. Light will still escape from above and the sides and below, but blinds should fix that as well.

This is what I do and it makes my bedroom pitch black even on bright sunny days. I just put one staple on it to hold it over the window. You could use tape to hold it up. I got mine from where I used to work but you can get them at places like E-Bay, Amazon, Lowe's or Home Depot.

Also, external retractable blinds can be useful in such instances.

Well, internal shutters can be operated in one's pajamas without going out into bad weather.

Well, internal shutters can be operated in one's pajamas without going out into bad weather. So can external shutters. They're normally operated by an electrical switch or manually operated by a small handle.
However, the retractable blinds I mentioned have to be operated from outside, with a hook on the end of a pole.
And I never wear pyjamas, but that doesn't stop me going outside in all types of weather... especially full moons.

Wow !!! Blinds operated from the inside !!! Seems either problematic and or pricey.
