Jesus Christ no, my ancestors were not that pretty... In 1887, my great grandfather was acknowledged as the strongest man in South West England... he was the only person who could single handedly lift a two man bale of hay above his head, and toss it on to a cart... That took muscle, not good looks like in that photo. LOL, great answer!
I used to take pride in the fact that a mere girly-girl (me) could buck a bale of alfalfa hay up into the loft. But I was lots younger then... and prettier... hmmm...

As we have a winner in Today's What's my Job? Here is a bonus old time photo... We revisit another favourite, hiding an adult under a curtain to photograph Victorian children... In this instance, they should have thrown that curtain over the hideous inbred mutant child on the far left... Amirite? You knows it👍 That person was probably holding up the body of a recently dead child to be photographed with his/her living siblings....a common practice in the 19th Century when the art of photography meant that a record of a life could be kept.

There wasn't always a lot of entertainment in the old days... A favourite pastime was getting out the old dessicated mummified corpses, dressing them in a skirt, and taking them for a walk round the garden... Next time somebody complains to you they are bored, hand them a shovel, a skirt, and a map to the local cemetery, and tell them to make their own entertainment...

I've seen this at the Halloween Superstore.

In the olden times it was common to invite religious people round for tea, in a vain attempt to save your worthless soul... By the time you realised it was actually Pazuzu sipping your finest Earl Grey and scoffing your iced buns, it was probably already too late to start flinging about the old holy water and shouting "The Power of Christ compels you"... Luckily, these days, when people knock on our doors selling god, we just tell them to fuck off, instead of welcoming the sinister bastards in...

Where's today's photo? Normal service will be resumed tomorrow... I am too traumatised still... For today's old photo, we delve in to the recent past (Saturday in fact), frightening as it was...

Ah...sorry about that. I think the rival Tranmere won their match and I don't know about Lincoln's results. Anyway, hope you turnaround next week.

Oops, thought Nationwide still sponsored the old Conference. When did Vanarama start doing it. Sorry about the loss mate, I'm lucky enough to have grown up with Chelsea as my local team and therefore have had some extremely happy years, a bit different to when I started supporting them in the early 90s. You guys need a Russian sugar daddy too!

Maybe they go in to the game too confident?

Yeah, who the hell are Crystal Palace? Exactly Don't know why but always thought Forest Green was a London team. Just googled it and it's based in Nailsworth! I got married a few years ago in the local area (near Tetbury) as my wife is from there and we visited Nailsworth a lot when we were organising it, as it had some good pubs and a fantastic curry house (near the Tescos).

Wow! Seek, and ye shall find, ask, and it shall be given...
At least now we know that Elvis is really dead.
I know that cost was an issue, and photography was (nearly) instant and a new thing, but I personally would rather have had an artist come in, sketch the deceased and make a lovely painting of that child in an idyllic setting. That's one thing artists can do that photographers can't - well, at least until CGI.
I've done a few pet portraits with old photos as reference, after the pet had died, but the photos were all of the living pet, and I made an original composition from those and other reference materials.
After my grandmother died, her daughter (my aunt) had black and white prints made from a studio-shot negative of her mother as a young woman, and hand-tinted one for each of her siblings. It's the only image I have of her, and it is lovely.
