Some of the best and more interesting American movies produced away from the major Hollywood Studios in the 1950s were released through UNITED ARTISTS.
Independent productions were also released by the major studios to fill out double bills etc, while other movies were released through Allied Artists, which catered for many low budget genre movies - invasion of the body snatchers (1956) being an exceptional example.
10 well known favorites released thru U.A. gun crazy (1950) the prowler (1951) kiss me deadly (1955) the night of the hunter (1955) the killing (1956) a kiss before dying (1956) paths of glory (1957) sweet smell of success (1957) 12 angry men (1957) odds against tomorrow (1959)

mort.. not 'made' - but released. It's an important distinction. United Artists was essentially a distribution company and a vital commercial outlet for independent film producers...big and small. James Bond was it's big money earner in the 1960s+, which kept it afloat.
